Eh, uni work is just giving me hassle and I'm trying to maintain a social life in a world full of people where everyone is a drama queen >_< Ah nice, how are these new glasses of which you spoke of perviously?? :)

Hey, I know I've been gone for ages, life got far too hectic for me to even think about the world of the internet >_< How's life??

I ended up getting an A. I am still not sure how I feel about academia as a whole now, though. I think that that is a fairly accurate picture! I also forage. There was an instance back in the late summer where a friend played flutes and did a dance. It was ridiculous and hilarious. People clapped. It is very cold now, so I have been hiding away inside. Lots of icy night drives too. I adore the stillness. Excellent job on the driving test! I will have to take my final one some time in the next couple of months. How goes your winter? I need to play some money making game if I want to travel any time in the near future.

Greetings! Life is somewhat fantastic for me. I finished my MA and now spend my days doing whatever I want, as I do not have to work just yet, haha. This is the first time in my life I have not had impending schooling looming over my head. I have been spending a lot of time looking for animal bones and generally just being in forests. I also no longer have an internet connection from my home. How are you keeping?

It is pretty scary in a cheesy kind of way. I think I'm just a little bit scared of contact lenses XD That does sound like a pretty cool gig although it sounds a lot like a Ghost gig or a bit Cradle of Filth. The song wasn't too bad actually (from what I heard from behind my pillow). Anyways, go ahead, make me jealous: how was LeedsFest???

1: You could have warned me not to watch that video just before I was planning on going to bed; I was truly a little bit scared and don't think I'll sleep tonight :P 2: I do gigs of all sizes but I do enjoy the smaller ones for the very reason that it's a lot calmer 90% of the time. I think the worst squish was went I went to see Murderdolls and had to suffer at the front through BVB. 15y/o girls are officially more effective at crushing my lungs than large metal-type guys XD You are so lucky! I really want to see System of a Down (I would love to see Green Day but I'd need a time machine to enjoy them as I'm not a fan of the 21st Century+ era; gimme Dookie, Nimrod or Warning any day) I hope you enjoy them though ^_^ I've got far too many other bands that I want to see (my upcoming events list is large atm) so I figured I'd see some of them rather than go Reading >_< SoaD will tour the UK one day, I'm sure...

I apparently never learn, I spent most of Download at the front and was squished and squashed and ended up on the edge of so many pits. Actually, that's how I spend most gigs. I was unbelievably close for Maiden and, even though the pushing and jumping was intense, I would do it again tomorrow!! Who are you seeing at Leeds fest? I wanted to go to the Friday of Reading but it's too much money for a day :( On the last day of Download 2012 (when the rain had calmed down and the sun had come out) I lay on the grass near the JägerStage and listened to a band that I'd never heard before but it was so trippy and relaxing that I only half conscious for about an hour. It was brilliant :D

Yeah, I've stopped checking, I just leave my notifications until I have the time to respond. Yeah, it is nice to have an excuse to sit around and do nothing and not feel guilty about it; although I did start going a bit stir crazy when I couldn't leave my house. I don't mind being short at gigs too much, it does help that I'm a girl - I normally end up on random peoples shoulders or getting put on the barrier by people who think I need looking after. Download was the second time I've seen Slipknot, I saw the from the barrier of Sonisphere and ended up being kicked in the head and blacking out so I took it calmly at Download; they're amazing live, though I'm biased because they're my favourite band. BFMV was the first band I ever saw live in 2008 years ago so it was nice to see how far they've come along - they were really good. QotSA were pretty good live, I just lay in the grass while listened to them to be honest and it was really nice.

I don't like the "seen at..." feature on Facebook either, sometimes I'll check a message but be busy so intend to reply later but then it just seems like I'm ignoring the other person! I think I just get things done faster and it doesn't feel like working when I'm singing along and having fun :P I pulled 2 muscles, one in my shoulder and one in my knee so walking was difficult and lifting anything else was out of the question. I'm only 5ft tall, I sometimes have to move lights that stand up to my elbows >_< At Download I saw: Rise to Remain, Bullet for My Valentine, Amon Amarth, Slipknot, Rammstein, 30 Seconds to Mars, Katatonia, Karnivool, KoRn, Papa Roach, Down, Motörhead, QotSA, Coal Chamber, 5FDP, Stone Sour, Hellyeah, Sacred Mother Tongue and a few others that I can't remember :P

Oh honestly, do bug me if I don't respond. I just need that push to remember to get back to people. I procrastinate on social interaction far too much XD I've been off of work for a couple of weeks due to injury (lifting heavy things when your as small as me is likely to have repercussions at some point...) so I've been focusing on redecorating my room. I lack focus too but I find that listening to music helps with that problem...

That is interesting! Everyone else I have talked to has told me the opposite: that they found a PhD easier, because it was much more relaxing in terms of the schedule. The MA is the same: specialising in a very specific research area. I actually have the vague workings of a plan should I ever do one (it would be a new reading of Norse myths because I've come to realise I have a strange perspective), and maybe in a year or two I will feel more okay with the idea, but I realised that it was either draw my comic OR pursue a PhD--I cannot realistically do both. I've been a slave to academia for a very long time now, so now I will be a slave to my own art for as long as I need to be.

The program itself is a year long. I have been working on my project sporadically throughout, and then full time as of April.

Oh gosh. The last draft measured up at 38 pages. I can't fathom how people do PhDs.

Not very many. I just finished Thief Gold last week and plan to start the second one at some point. First person stealth games suit me nicely, haha. Uuuugh, I have no idea. My bibliography is almost nine pages long. Maybe a dozen are specifically about draugar, and the rest either make mention of them or deal with more structural elements. I did manage to slip an article about trolls in too, and have related them to draugr in some ways, which is very exciting for me!

Ah, I see. I have hardly played any games like that (though I'll be honest, I did move to Skyrim for a while in the winter...). I don't have any published research on the topic, so officially, no. But I have read every text in English that talks about them, so if there is one subject on earth that I am close to knowing everything about, I suppose it would have to be that one. Perhaps my comic project will leave me with that title ;)

I think they are in other Elder Scrolls games too, though Skyrim is the only one I have played. Hahaha, I think we both have mentioned our responses to hard work before. The wikipedia page kind of irks me, because a lot of the information is inaccurate and the further reading section is severely lacking. I may just have to clean it up...

Man, I suck at I swear I replied to this! Not vikings in the afterlife, but vikings (more accurately: Scandinavians--mostly farmers and shepherds--who appear in The Sagas of the Icelanders) who literally rise after death. Do you know anything about draugar? Sometimes they show up in popular culture (like Skyrim), although I haven't seen any bang-on representations of them. They are different than ghosts, vampires, and zombies, but have elements of each (although since they came first, I guess that should be the other way around). I'm generally a diligent worker until I actually 'have' to do something. When it is required of me, I do everything in my power to avoid it. My second draft is due soon (...probably why I am on, heheh), and I am staked out at school with a food source again.
