Almost worth learning French...

7 jan. 2007, 10h34m

Although Autour de Lucie have slipped on my charts of late, I have to say I'm quite excited to hear the first song from Valérie Leulliot's upcoming solo album. "Mon homme blessé" sounds much more... traditional than Valérie's work with Autour de Lucie - I hear no rock influence nor bubbling electronica, just a beautiful voice and some folky guitar (and a bit of violin, if I'm not mistaken). It should be totally accessible for fans of Keren Ann, Carla Bruni, Madeleine Peyroux, or Nouvelle Vague (not to mention Coralie Clément and Françoiz Breut, although the two of them seem to be travelling in something of the opposite direction from Valérie - starting with a more stripped-down traditional sound and becoming more adventurous).

In fact, the only real danger I see is that if I made compliation of all these artists, I'm wonder how easy it would be for most people to tell them apart (language sung aside, of course). Still, it's gorgeous stuff when you're in the mood...
