Haha, I consider getting sidetracked as one of my hobbies! I'm fine as well, thanks. No, you said "great" which is better than "fine", right? Okay. I've had my first week of summer holiday, yay! I'm also glad to tell you that I got into an interview to start studying in an uni to become an English teacher! I hope this pans out, really. How are things there? And what, QOTSA has a new album?! WHY DON'T I KNOW ABOUT THIS *double bro fist*

Yeah, recently a lot of young musicians emerge and make some great stuff. I have just recently been made conscious of Pegasus Bridge, who, sadly, split up after their first album already. But the few songs they have are really incredibly well made and great to listen to. They were a British Indie Rock band, and somehow remind me of the Beatles, even though their style is vastly different. I can't get their melodies and the singer's voice out of my head, one can only dream of what they would've made if they were still jamming.

Sadly many people do that -- waste their lives on something that doesn't make them happy at all. I've come to the conclusion a long time ago that I should do what makes me happy, not what other people expect me to do. Why would we live this life for other people? I really don't understand. It's nice to hear of people like me, as well. :) I've noticed that most of the interesting people I like are indeed in other countries! It's a bit drag. Oh, thank you so much!! :) You're probably the first person actually to encourage me to do what I want! I hope you'll be happy and successful as well at whatever you decide to do!

Same goes for me and the English language. I'd love to be a translator some day, or a teacher... Like I said in the beginning. I don't know... Something to do with English, that's all I care about. And yes! That's exactly it! If someone asks me if I'll make money doing the job I'd want to, I say "probably not, but at least I'd be happy doing it", and that's really what's it all about. I hope you'll make it with your blog, and I hope you'll get all the job offers in the world. I make sure to check it out sometime and tell my friends about it. You deserve the job you want, honestly you do. :)

Yes!! The acoustic performances of FF are (somehow) a bit better than their normal ones! Like the album, Skin and Bones? Omg. Also, I understand what you mean about the second album of In Your Honor... Like, the opening song Still gives me goosebumps. Holy... :D Yes, that's exactly the reason why people are miserable. Then they complain constantly how their lives sucks -- I don't want that. I want to do what I want, not what the society might expect from me... And especially if my own happiness on the line? We're not going to be on the planet that long, so why wouldn't we take the most of it? Doing what we want, what we like? I'm not going to be a cleaning lady just because there's a need for them, for I'd be constantly doing a shitty job just because I want to finish quickly and get home. Like you said, I'd make better money in a job I'm enthusiastic about. And I'm going to, goddamnit!! :DD I hope you're too!

I like the earlier FF material, like from the albums FF, There's Nothing Left to Lose, and the Colour and the Shape -- that sh*t is absolutely incredible! I'm not saying the newer material sucks, I just like the old one better. We'll just have to see what Dave does; more drumming or singing? :D I think he's rather good at both, I mean... I once saw an acoustic FF gig and he did an amazing job, like he was screaming his lungs out with an acoustic guitar! Wow! I understand exactly what you mean. Whenever I applied to a school, my dad was like "does it make enough money" and I was trying to reason with him that "Sure, money's a necessity but it really doesn't make me happy. I need to do what I wish, not what's expected from me" and he was like "whatever". Krhm. So I've come to the conclusion that nothing really matters except that I'm happy myself. When I'm happy, I can make other happy, too. If I'm disappointed with my life, why should I continue? I want to, though! Badly :D

I'll just keep my thumbs up for a great drummer for TCV then! I have to admit, I still haven't gotten into WL like the previous FF albums, I know... I'm a bad fan. :( I guess I just haven't listened to it enough?! I should, though. Hopefully Dave does as much drumming as possible, for I like him more on drums, too. :) JPJ is just brilliant, and anything he's in is too. Oh god, I know this sounds really immature, but the economy sucks balls, honestly. I mean... I'm like you really, I don't want to end up doing 9 to 5 job I hate. I'll fight until I'm able to what I want, and I will do it even if it's impossible. It's just like how my parents and relatives see this whole thing; I should get a job to get money. I realise that, but if I wake up in the morning thinking "I really don't want to do this", is all that money worth it? I think not. I want to make myself happy, however selfish that might be. :)

Well, let's just hope they won't drag it out, you know, telling us fans who the replacement drummer will be. Oh, Dave's said that? Why don't I know anything :D I'm completely in the dark here. New material from TCV would be so cool... Sure, I hope FF won't disband, but somehow I'd like to hear more from Vultures than FF. Haha, I'm glad someone thinks me graduating is nice, I certainly don't. I'm studying audiovisual communications, but I've heard that there are no jobs in this field. Also, I don't really even like this... Bleh. I'm going to apply into University to read English or Sami, because that's what I'm interested in. I'm hoping to become a teacher! (dream on, lass) I know how that's, though, changing my mind constantly... but I'm going to graduate from this school now, even though it's rather stupid for I'll instantly become unemployed. :D So are you studying something atm?

Helloo! :) It's certainly nice to hear from you. I haven't seen any news regarding the new QOTSA album myself, so thanks for the update! It'd be nice to have new music for the summer! Sounds awesome, really, Grohl again on drums? That ought to be absolutely brilliant. Do you know who replaces him on tour, then? Also, do you know anything about if Them Crooked Vultures are going to release a new album or not? Or were they just a one time thing? :x Because I'd love to hear some new stuff from them too. Yet, I bet Homme and Grohl's been rather busy, working on the new QOTSA album... I've been well, thanks for asking! I should be graduating next May, so that's going to keep me busy. How about you? All is well I hope? :)

Yes, I'm super excited. Watched the DVD that came with the Deluxe version of the new Album and that got me super excited. Yeah, I feel you pain, I sadly missed Gaslight Anthem's gig. Do you often listen to Country or Folk? I'm always searching for more of that, I love the feeling Mumford & Son's music gives you. You put it in and are almost instantly happy by their hand-made tracks, where you feel the love that went into fine-tuning every single note. So if you know some more heart made music, feel free to let me know, I'm happy to try new stuff!

Wow, they're quite nice. I definitely love me some Mumford & Sons, can't wait for their concert next March. Have you checked out Gaslight Anthem, Brian Fallon's main band? One of my favorites, they use some nice heavy guitars and blend that with awesome drum parts and great vocals, especially Brian's. They have a live concert streaming here on last.fm, I can only recommend it, they are amazing live. Well you know about Bon Iver already, so maybe you should check out Pegasus Bridge. They already separated but their first and last album is bloody amazing. Love their melancholic stile, and once again, amazing voices ;P

Hey Mike, if you don't already know them maybe you should check out Blink-182. They have a greatest hits album out, and I just love their rocky but smooth sound and the well-written lyrics. Check them out if you will, and let me know if you enjoy 'em ;)

Oh wow. You were right, what an amazing album! I didn't like much their previous one, but this... And how I love their new sound. Dave's voice is godly. There were times I was just gawking at my computer with my mouth open. :D I'm such a boob. 'I've Should Have Known', a great track. I haven't made up my mind about my favourite track yet, but soon as I'll figure it out I'll let you know. (Even though you don't probably give a hoot.) And no, I haven't seen the documentary yet - I want, though. :) I once watched their live acoustic performance and I was so amazed how Dave could scream his ass off without even a proper background music. :D

Hello :) The new FF album... I haven't yet listened to it, but I've been meaning to! I've heard some of their new songs on the radio, and so far I like them. And their sound is heavier than before, just like you said it would be. That's kinda nice :) Have you heard the album? And have you seen the documentary movie, Back and Forth?

The Greenhornes new record will be fantastic. They played a handful of new songs which were all great. I get to see Blanche tonight. Actually for turntables I honestly have no recommendation. I don't have one with me while I'm at school. At home my dad pretty much gave me his old stereo he bought in 1976 or so. The receiver broke, so I garbage picked one from the early 90's that works great. The turntable itself is from 1976-ish and is an RCA. Works fantastic. I also use an old Lloyd's system at the house from 1971. Sorry I'm not much help in that area!

Hey there! Yeah, I've gotten a few things from Third Man Recently. I just got the Greenhornes 7" and the live Conan 12" in the mail last week. Both are absolutely phenominal. I was lucky enough to see the Greenhornes here in Detroit a couple months ago too. A few months back I got the live Dex Romweber Duo 12" and the Wanda Jackson 7" too. I haven't been able to get as many new records as I'd like. I'm a super poor college kid now. Though I got the Hounds Below 7" when my band played with them last month. The Hounds Below is Jason Stollsteimer (singer of the Von Bondies) new band. They're very cool.

Heh, I love it how Heartbreaker merges with Living Loving Maid on the album. :) But I must say that my all time favourite Zeppelin live song is Dazed and Confused from the album Song Remains the Same, bloody hell it's over 25 minutes long! It's amazing. Ha, let's build a time machine so we can go and see Zeppelin live during their prime time. Reunion tour, bring it on! :D But yeah, I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

Tangerine is lovely, one can just listen to it non-stop. :) Another of those "acoustic" Zeppelin songs that makes me feel all happy inside is Going to California, it's actually my favourite song from IV at the moment! Live albums, yeah... My dad has the Song Remains the Same vinyl, and I've listened it through couple of times. It's magnificent, I just wish I could have seen them live in the 70's. The other night I was listening the other live album, Howthe West Was Won. I don't know which one I like more! Your thoughts on LZ live albums?

A heavier FF album? Sounds good to me! Although everything Grohl does is so great... Yeah, let's hope this's not the end of TCV or JPJ's gonna have to come up with something else to do. I think my favourite Zeppelin album changes every week. :D I dunno, picking the best album from them is such an impossible task to do, so I'm not even trying. :D And the best song, ugh! No, it's not possible to choose. So let's not! But what's your favourite Zeppelin song atm (besides Achilles)? I'm really into Ramble On and The Wanton Song right now. :)

    juin 2010
  • nisma

Oh yeah, bring on the next albums! Can't wait for a new Foo nor a new TCV album, like I've told you before. :D I think their collaboration is flawless, they can't leave it to only one album! 'Achilles Last Stand' is so great. I always overlooked Presence, but once I heard the opening song... Now I love that album. And the song is easily one of Zeppelin's best! But what it comes to choosing the best Zeppelin album... It's impossible for me to choose one, since all the albums are superb. "Zeppelin I" was actually the first album to get me into the band. :-) 'How Many More Times' is sheer brillance.

Yeah well, most of the "super groups" ain't that super imo. :-D But TCV are so grand! I love it how all of them brought their own musical influences to the sound, it makes it so unique. Uh I just can't wait for a new album either! Let's hope that it won't take forever to release one. And what comes to LZ... it's just rock music as its best. Simple as that. I don't think I'll ever get tired of their albums. Just think about what would have happened if The Yardbirds'd have stuck together! :D

The live version of "Blue Orchid" is fantastic. Personally my favorite is "The Union Forever". I listen the record so much I'm scared I'm going to wear it out! You definitely need to see the film now.

  • nisma

So the documentary is a must-see then. :) Some say that TCV are overly hyped because of the members, but in my opinion each of them deserves the hype they get. And just like you said, Grohl is at his best when he's drumming, JPJ is a superb bass player and Homme... Well if you know QOTSA you know what I mean. "Reptiles" is my favourite from the album. :) I hope you like Interpol!

Have you seen the documentary called "It Might Get Loud"? I haven't seen it myself, but I know it has Jack White in it. :-) Hmm... I'm really bad at recommending anything to others, but I can try. :D Do you like Them Crooked Vultures or Interpol? They're both great!

I know Raconteurs, but I've never listened to them that much (except the song "Steady, As She Goes" cause it played on radio a lot a few years back). But I'll give them a try :) White Stripes are cool and Jack White's brilliant, how bad can it be. :D Thanks!

:( I'm kind of glad I didn't preorder the vinyl version for $30 now. I'm still going to pick it up on CD tomorrow, but I'm really sad to hear you say it isn't that good. I keep reading online about Meg's anxiety being gone, and that the Greenhornes have a new album finished and NYC dates booked, and that the Kills have a new album almost done, and Brendan Benson just had a kid, so the White Stripes future is looking good :) Although I also read of Jack's collaborations with Keith Richards and Jay Z...

I can't believe you never listened to the Greenhornes! Especially being a Raconteurs fan. I'd recommend picking up "Sewed Soles" to begin your introduction to the Greenhornes. Everything they've recorded is superb, and "Sewed Souls" is a compilation of their albums and EP. You won't be disappointed.

I finally heard the new Dead Weather single. It's alright. It'll probably grow on me. I didn't much for the flipside. I can't remember what's it's called. It's not much of a song. I really really was hoping that Jack would've put the Dead Weather on the shelf this year. I'd much rather have another White Stripes album, another Kills album, and MORE THAN ANYTHING a new Greenhornes album. The Greenhornes are about all I really want in life right now :)

    avril 2010
  • TheAmericanRuse

They were all amazing in their own aspect. I think the White Stripes were probably my favorite live because that was my first concert, and they were the first band I really fell in love with. The documentary doesn't feature very many full songs, so the CD has lots of stuff not on the film.

    avril 2010
  • TheAmericanRuse

Beyond awesome! I'm lucky enough to have seen Jack White perform with all three of his current bands, and then some. Have you heard the live album?

    avril 2010
  • TheAmericanRuse

I did! I saw it at this little independent art theater here in Detroit that's pretty much across the street from where they played their first show. They were supposed to come, but they were premiering the film in Austin early the next day at SXSW and wouldn't have been able to get from Detroit to Austin in time to make their premier down there.

  • TheAmericanRuse

Hey man! I actually haven't heard it yet. I preordered the 7" from Third Man, and was going to wait to listen to it until I spun the record for the first time. I'm very excited though. Do you get a chance to see "Under Great White Northern Lights" and listen to the live album?

Some people feel betrayed that he left Detroit and moved to Nashville. They feel that he sold out. Which I think is stupid. He hasn't turned his back on Detroit like some people like to think. Then there is that whole incident he had with Jason from the Von Bondies. A lot of people take sides on that.

    août 2009
  • TheAmericanRuse

That would be ideal. Yeah, he was really cool. The first time I didn't to talk to him much. It was at a Blanche record release party. There were too many people. The second time we talked for a while and he walked me out to my car and stuff. There were only like 30 people at the club. It was the Cut in the Hill gang release party. He can be weird around big crowds here in Detroit. A lot of people who've been a part of the scene here have a lot of resentment towards him.
