Yeah, Mogwai are freaking awesome, Glasgow Snake ftw. If you like your long, drawn out, epic pieces, check out Agalloch, my favourite band, ever, horribly, horribly epic. In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion is simply beautiful.

Yeah, I do like me some Post Rock, you ever listen to God is an Astronaut? Fairly similar stuff to Sigur Ros. And yeah, Tool is awesome, Maynard is a genius, if you haven't check out Puscifer, it's his trip-hop act, the album "C is for Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference Here" is lovely

Eeep, keep meaning to say...Thanks for that gift game last week. Much appreciated, if I could actually play it, haha. Gave it one go, then "ol' reliable" cut out again.

Hehe although Daughter started as just Elena Tonra, it is very much now an equal trio band. I'm saving myself for the debut album release, which is frustrating, because it has in fact leaked all over the interwebs recently. Hmmm, if I was Karu, where would I start? The easy answer would be their main big popular release, The Heartfelt. Would you want a particular song? I haven't listened to their debut much, and never even touched their remix album. The Heartfelt is a perfectly constructed album, lots of gamer sound aesthetics and "online life" thematics.

Glad you liked it. That song helped me through when essays were leaving me brain dead. Mr Wolf used to mean a lot to me at one point, it's a shame that's not the case so much now.

Well, even though I don't have music on this iPad, I took off cloudscrob to try and fix it. It wasn't scrobbling the home library through wifi any way. Fingers crossed!

I might give I and II another listen....but I will say this, CHECK OUT PURITY RING!

Omg I'm mortified! I swear I corrected that typo months ago! Might just delete that part, I'm not really using thisismyjam at the moment, was just something a greenman acquaintance showed me. As for CC, I don't know why I bought it, I actually hate I and II. The first listen was was ok, think it drew me in because it shares similar strains to Purity Ring, whom I am completely enamoured with. CC is just two chaotic, there isn't a structure there to keep hold of me. Also too clubland, but there is a physicality to the sound that is kind of addictive. Ummm...it was on a deal in HMV in Dundee so I thought "what the hey?!"

Your relationship with music to people is too intertwined, it's good that you made that assertion to separate the two. I would never let the relationships I have with people dictate how much music is in my life, it would be like giving me a lobotomy. Lol why do you think I go to a lot of gigs by myself! I think the biggest problem with Alt-j is that it's very much a summer band, and although they craft great music, the singing style and lyrics lacks an emotional connection to keep you hooked. It's not music that you can connect too for very long, unfortunately. It's music that is simply enjoyable. I hope they find a way of making the second album more personal. La Blogotheque stop posting vids for a while, but they've been back for at least a year. I think they were just building their material back up.

fft the first listen should have you hooked on the contemporary Christmas feels! I was checking accommodation in Newcastle a while back when I thought Northumbria Uni was a possibility, found a nice modern studio in a private student accommodation, and a few one bedroom/studio options on Westgate Road, all in the region of £130pw, so I factored that into my saving goal. No way am I sharing with other people. Motorcyclists are big and rotund because it forces them to ride slower and concentrate on balance! Also, they generate more body heat, thus melting the black ice around them for 100 meters hahaha XD I do enjoy my job, but since it's not the career I want to go into, it helps to keep an end date in mind. What's wrong with working on a cheese farm? Is this just the in between until you do your masters or phd?

So finally got Silver and Gold yet? If I did my Training in Durham, then I would probably move to Newcastle to teach (or maybe I could do the training in Durham, but live in Newcastle?). Similarly, if I did it in Leeds, then I would live there, at least for a few years. Wherever I move, that's where I hope to settle down for a while. I'll have to work in a trip to Durham (with Newcastle and another Scottish city, maybe) just to get a feel for it. Haha I was thinking you were munching some tasty fritters in order to put on weight, thus making you drive/ride slower and more balanced. I'm still working in social services, supporting/assisting the man with the guide dog (actually, different guide dog now). Staying in the job until I can do the training. Could never understand when you go through phases of not being excited with music, that excitement is always there for me. http://youtu.be/kwa_f0c3Xqs I love this video, I showed it to Arran while I was in Dundee, I think I converted him!

Oh man, that sucks! I can't remember what I paid for mine, but it might not be that far off actually. It's well worth every penny, in my opinion, it's that good. Only 10 minutes by Nat Rail? Still not been to Durham yet, and i'm worried i'd get bored there. I wonder what the ticket prices are. Ooh, I could do research of to duration and prices of travel to cities from Leeds. The original plan was to aim for Sept 2013, but although I've been trying to save, I don't think I can afford it yet. Another big factor is meeting some of the entry requirements, still not secure classroom observation/work experience...so definitely 2014, at the latest. Fritters as in related to doughnuts, or as in to do with your bike/car? I'm on the coach back to London from Dundee, looks like it'll be clear sailing today. I don't want to go back just yet, but alas I have work tomorrow :( you're listening to Alt-j! I saw them at Greenman :) So good!

It works more cohesively than vol 1-5, and it incorporates a lot of new Sufjan, while some of them still retaining old school Christmas feels. I was walking down a road in Leeds, on my way to watch a film, and a track put me in tears because it was the song that my aunt used to sing solo at Midnight Mass. Well out of the North, the choices are Leeds and Durham, and Leeds seems to be great for gigs and I could always go Sheffield or Manchester, or even Newcastle for my music fix, if need be. I hear that Newcastle is once again treacherous with all the ice. Not a lick of it since I got to Scotland, which probably means I'm gonna have trouble leaning on Sunday. Ad yes, next time I'm properly in Newcastle (which could be a while away), I'll tell ya and we can grab that coffee.

Prepared to be shocked...there are better songs than Christmas Unicorn on Silver and Gold XD Yup, instead of ripping it from my boxset, I just downloaded it in the format of my choice. Got it as part of the preorder, but check all your emails from them, it's a link so you might have easily missed it, maybe. Lol, hi! Being back in the NE, I can hear the faint similarities to Geordie/Mackem I used to hear. Yup, still thinking of moving away to study, although London is now back on the table if I feel confident to apply for next year, and if can't sacrifice the choice of gigs. And will do, don't want to be sneaky if I do visit Newcastle, although that might be a long way aways as Northumbria Uni is no longer an option.

Aww there's ages left until Christmas, I'm sure you'll get it before then, and vol 1-5 can kelp you in good spirits. Haven't they sent you the digital download? I'm in Leeds at the mo, just to get an idea of the city to help with my decisions, went to a gig here, too. Off to Dundee on Wednesday.

Yes, the cartoons are wonderful too. I've been rewatching them in the Polish dub recently, for the first time since my childhood in Poland. They hold up!
