Thu 16 Aug – Summer Breeze
First off, this is my 1st festival/live event. I knew alot about what's going on on festivals from watching various DVDs but I still learned/experienced alot of new great things. What I noticed amazed me was how metalheads actually hold together and help eachother. That once again proved how wrong prejudges are.
Ok I want to keep it short and skip arrival and that shit .
List of bands I've seen and my impressions:Wed 15.08
- 8pm - 0am Justice
covered songs of Judas Priest, Metallica and other big bands in the partytent for 4 hrs. I've only been there about 3 hrs. Good start.Tue 16.08
- 2pm - 2.30pm Fear My Thoughts
german melodic death/metalcore. Not really my cup of tee. Only Sweetest Hell
got me dancing a bit.
- 2.45pm - 3.10pm Immolation
Coudn't really get into their death metal because I did only know one song. Gotta get some CDs of them. Nice performance though.
- 8.05pm - 8.50pm Suffocation
I missed half of their show because of the controls at the entrance. Awesome show & death metal. CDs needed.
- 8.55pm - 9.55pm Nevermore
was recommended to me many times. Now I finally got to hear/see them. Although I didn't know the songs I had alot of fun headbanging and jumping around. Definitely need some CDs of them.
- 10.50pm - 0.05am Amon Amarth
covered the whole stage with a big black banner at the start. I knew they had a new stage show. I was impressed after they lighted it up, a big viking ship with a dragon head on the front and in the background a wall of wood and big shields with the Amon Amarth capitals on them. Kickass show with alot of pyro effects. BUT sadly I didn't see so much because the crowd was moving all the time. Actually there were too much people to enjoy this great act decently.
- 0.10am - 1am Dornenreich
was pretty nice melodic black metal. I was so tired after the strenuous Amon Amarth show that I had to get back to my tent after 2-3 songs to regenerate some energy for later.
- 1.50am - 2.35am Nightrage
played in the partytent. I don't like their new album and they played alot of songs from it. The voicals sucked imho. But I stayed till the end.Fri 17.08
- 1.15pm - 1.45pm Illdisposed
played great (melodic) death metal. The voicalist put up some jokes, good to enjoy.
- 6.55pm - 7.55pm Finntroll
we're on my "let's see how they are live" list and I loved them. Need CDs!
- 8.50pm - 9.50pm Bolt Thrower
rammed everything else into the ground. Simply GROUNDBREAKING. They were one of the main reasons why I came to Summer Breeze '07. They usually don't play on festivals and additionally this was their only gig in Germany this year.
- 10.45pm - 0.05am In Extremo
was an interesting live act. Although I don't like folk. I left after some songs as it was packed and not really enjoyable enough for me to stay.Sat 18.08
- 7.20pm - 6.06pm Die Apokalyptischen Reiter
put up a great show taking people to stage and playing with them (might add more on that later, im tired right now)
- 6.55pm - 7.55pm Dark Tranquillity
were another reason why I came here. Together with the Bolt Thrower show this was the best of all. I hope to be on the videos they recorded and see myself on their next DVD.
- 8pm - 8.45pm Moonsorrow
were nice to fade out the day. Melodic Black Metal.
I hope you enjoyed reading my review although it lacks in details. Maybe I redo it later when I'm not too tired.
Looking forward to the next years Summer Breeze.
