Yeah I'm totally in love with that song. And the video. Wow. I imagine their live shows are CUH-razy. I'm planning to catch their set at Coachella. Woot woot.

Well thanks again. That encourages me to keep on going. And yes, just these past few months I've really gotten into his stuff. My friend got me hooked and I never turned back. So so so good. And you've seen him? Ah, sounds so amazing. I can't wait til the October show either. I'm definitely staying after to try and meet him. I'll probably see you there then!

YOU ARE INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE. I can't believe you have listened to Health 865 times in the past 7 days. That's more plays than my number one top-played artist. Ever. Oh, Hugo.

  • caitlionnn

that's really funny that you say that, my friend JUST alerted me to that fact and i'm TOTALLY getting tickets! I love gogol! and eugene is amazinggggg

haha I know! Lisa did a good job, I didn't feel like she was trying to imitate Feist's or anything. I thought I was going to explode when they played Cause=Time! this week has indeed been wonderful. Oh and to answer your previous question, currently i'm undeclared. but I really love writing and english and music, so i'm thinking of majoring in either english or journalism with an emphasis on music. but we'll see how things work out! architecture is quite fascinating, good choice.

you were FIRST?! My friend and I felt so silly, we were INSANELY early...but after an hour or so of browsing decided to get some lunch and when we came back, the line had already formed. So technically, we COULD have been first! hahaaa I was indeed wearing green, that's so funny you probably saw me. I was situated RIGHT behind that fellow Hyde from That 70s Show...everyone was all excited about that. The show was so unbelievably unbelievable. I had chills the entire time!

GO LISTEN TO THEM NAO. There's my recommendation! Bowerbirds... Oof. So fantastic. "Indie" folk at its finest. I saw them earlier this month, and it was great. Just really, really beautiful music. Only problem is, I know absolutely nothing about the accordion. The only place I could buy one around here would be online, but I'd want to see and play the instrument before I bought it... And I have no clue how to even play. Ah well.

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

And for some reason, that song you just showed reminded me of this: http://hypem.com/track/526486/MiniVIP+-+Miss+Augusta Don't really know why at all...

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Um... don't wanna talk about it. It's bad haha. Well, ambient is really nice! I love Sigur Ros with a passion and that kind of sent me into more post-rock stuff, which sent me into ambient, which sent me into dark/drone ambient, so on and so forth. And I love AH&AHS, and I love the accordion in it. Bowerbirds also has an accordion..ist (?) and I've been really interested in the instrument lately. I wanna play! What's it like?

  • Mhmmaggie

Oh man, I have gone through so many phases as well. I went through one where I changed the way I looked completely, although I think it might have been a combination of (what I consider now to be) bad music and horrible, pent-up, pre-and-early-teen angst. Luckily that vanished. It was embarrassing! I will make you a mix tape one day, sir. It will be of epic proportions. So some new genres to listen to, eh? I don't know what all you listen to know, but besides garage rock, I've been dipping into a ton of ambient lately, as well as shoegaze, straight up folk, and noise rock. If you want something unique, check this guy out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJBI4ckmB2M I don't listen to much hip-hop, but this song along blew my miiiiiiiind!

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Man... That's intense but I understand. I just tend to get bored really easily and constantly need to switch it up. Mix tapes are my best friend! Bu I can totally relate. When I'm not being ADD over my music, I'm usually obsessing over a band or album. Even genre. Lately it's been garage rock :3

  • Mhmmaggie

Dude... Joanna Newsom up the wazoo on your charts. #1 artist: 314 plays. #10 artist: 4 plays. I sense an uneven distribution of tune-age. :D

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Oh, you are awesome. It worked perfectly! Thank you. :)

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Haha. Say, you know where I can get any of Owen Pallett's music? all my searches have been terribly unsuccessful.

Yes! They make me feel so....well, I guess twee.

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Entry-level changes its meaning all the time. One day on /mu/, an album will be the coolest shit in the world, and the next, everyone's like, "Pffff, so overrated. Total entry-level." I mean, unless the only artists you ever listen to are Neutral Milk Hotel and Burzum lawlz

  • Mhmmaggie

Hells to the yeah, I love Mika Miko! RIP. :(

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

For sure. I like political fiction, but I'm not one for reading preachy type political books. I guess that's why I'm torn on her. I liked some of her novels, but her personal-belief journals turned me off big time. But I love political music, which explains part of my affinity for punk rock. (the conversation was straying away from music... Had to tie it back somehow!)

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Her work is interesting to read that's for sure, but she's really not one of my favorites and I don't agree with her theories, but whatever! Man, is she a character.

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

For clarification I meant Sinclair Lewis, not upton Sinclair haha

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Of course they were! Sinclair is a personal favorite of mine... Babbitt is probably in my top 5 favorite novels ever. Basically I love any book that delves into the socialist-capitalist skirmishes. And doing so in my favorte time period? Yes please. I love Borges as wellllllllll. Hooray for good books

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Oh? Well, I do say, the early 1900s were quite te times indeed. Just finished re- reading a slew of books from the 20s in fact!

That was epic. It reminded me of half some intense thriller movie and half Disney's Fantasia!

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

That's beautiful music. I know next to nothing about classical, although I do really enjoy early morning classical on NPR. I know how retarded and entry-level this is going to sound to a classical buff, but I'm gonna have to say that Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is probably one of my favorite pieces. Ever.

    février 2010
  • Mhmmaggie

Oh yeah, I know them! I really enjoy them. I like Japanese instrumental. Takeshi Terauchi & Bunnys are one of my favorite bands. Except they're surf rock, not math at all. So share your discoveries! I'm down with impressionist composers any day. In return, here is some awesome circus punk marching band music. http://www.myspace.com/muccapazza

No worries, we can all be a little slow sometimes haha. Hm, well. I've got a boatload of work to do, so I'm proposing that you go math-hunting and report back to me with the best of the best. :D
