Both of these recordings are great, I also remember that he was on one track of a John Handy record from the mid - late 60's, though I'm not sure if it was ever reissued. There is some footage of him in the recent doc My Name Is Albert Ayler, which if not yet, will be released as a DVD.http://www.mynameisalbertayler.com/ If you want more info, I can check with some of the crew on Monday.

Rereading your shout, I think you did mean Sampson. He is on the Live at Slugs - ESP 4025 Albert Ayler Slugs' Saloon Featured Artists Albert Ayler - tenor saxophone Donald Ayler - trumpet Ron Jackson - percussion Lewis Worrell - double bass Michael Sampson - violin http://store.espdisk.com/ESPstore.html ..and on the Impulse recording Live In Greenwich Village: The Complete Impulse Recordings.

First of all, you can now listen to all 4 Parts of the Ayler Radio program; http://espdisk.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=86 And are you asking about more Ayler or Sampson music? The only recordings of Sampson I have come across are on Ayler dates, but I can ask around the office......

Thanks, and in a way we are still in the continuing incarnation that began decades ago. Bernard Stollman is still very much alive and part of the daily operations of the label, after a 20 of so year break. We are working on new releases that will connect to the beautiful and strange history of the catalog. We are also setting up a forum for people to connect directly with Bernard. Stay tuned.

I added you on slsk, by the way, though I typically have several people from my list d/ling so it still may take awhile. I expect I'll be digging around 'the Dump' for some time to come.

Oddly my hard drive is organizised while my physical cd shelf is positively slovenly. Most would say Blue Corpse is the place to start with Jandek and I'd agree. Interstellar Discussion and Later On too.
