Yellow Memories is such a well put together album that has a nice balance between the 'strange' and the 'soulful'. I've been following Fatima since her appearance on Shafiq's En Afree-ka LP in 2009 and am glad that she's still progressing musically. Agree w/ you on Do Better. It's a wonderful opening. Technology, as short as it is, is one of my favorites as well b/c it's such a headnodder. Proof that Oh No and big bro Madlib should produce more R&B. The new Meshell is a grower. On first listen, it just slightly moved me. Subsequent listens has seen it really grow on me tho. I like it better than Weather, which was a little too languid for me. I was actually on a Meshell shuffle session in the gym today. That lady has made so many great music over the years, man. Can't wait for Jessie and Common--the tracklisting for the latter has been released. Save for the Big Sean feature, it looks good. How's the gym been treating you?

Great charts. I see you're a fan of Hawthorne and KT, have you peeped their collab album as Jaded Incorporated yet? There's some jams on there.

Nah I deleted my iG a couple months back. This NaS thing is crazy tho... its like a big investigation on who it really is. There is some phony story that its really a 24yr old Russian kid from BK lol. Im falling for it tho. Funny how this kid has no YouTube vids, no internet bio, and nobody can locate him for an interview lol

Absolutely, man! Music always enhances life for me. Big time. LD's album is so addictive. It's definitely high on my year end list already. Have you checked out their fellow Swede, Fatima? Her debut is also a favorite of the year of mine. The Roots album is just too scattered and stark for me. Some have opined that its a hip hop opera. I'll still give it a few more listens before I completely write it off. Early Riser is a really nice, Sunday morning type listen. It's very cohesive. Thanks for the heads up on Hannibal King! Feelin' it! Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Street Lady is a classic. I hit pay-dirt last year when I scored a pristine OG copy of it for FREE at a record show.

What's up sir! It has certainly been a good while. Things have been very great for me lately. I graduated from college earlier last month and I'm just trying to take this summer to weigh my career options out. I've been playing Change's classic 1981 debut, "The Glow Of Love" alot lately and I can truly say it is a first-rate post-disco soul record. Luther Vandross' contributions to that album remain immeasurable. His vocals on "Searching" is one of my top performances by him. I haven't heard the follow-up, "Miracles" yet, but I will be getting into that one soon.

What's up, man?! I also haven't been as active on the site as I usually am. Life has been busy lately. I'm also in love w/ the new Little Dragon. Definitely one of the best albums even though I love their entire discography. Tix to both NYC dates are currently sold-out, sadly. The new Roots album still hasn't clicked w/ me after numerous listens. Be warned that the guys only appear on about 6 to 7 of the LP's 11 tracks. It's a concept album, of sorts, without a clear narrative. Who else have you been listening to lately?

I never really got into Shad. He recently dropped a new album, right? Would you recommend starting there or going back? I plan on really enjoying this forthcoming summer. I need to considering how horrid the weather was this winter. LOL. I use good ol' fashioned 91% ico alcohol to clean my records. You can find it really cheap at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. As far as what I've been digging lately....are you up on Ben Westbeech? I put his first album back in rotation. The new Tune-Yards album is really solid too. And how can I forget, K Raydio and Psymun? Their LP is one of my favorites of the year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPhh7a_gCJ0

What's going on, man? Love Appartus' length is probably due to the fact that he'd been working on the songs for so long. I can't wait to see Meshell live again. It's been a while since I've seen her on stage. She's very unpredictable live. That's a killer lineup. When is Jay E's album finally coming out?? The Crusaders albums are pretty common. I always see Street Life and Chain Reaction for cheap prices at record shops. If I had to recommend an album of theirs, it's be between 2nd Crusade, Southern Comfort and Images. A LOT of famous samples come from the latter. Jose's new album drops this summer. I have mixed feelings about the first single: https://soundcloud.com/bluenoterecords/jose-james-everylittlething/s-ig6mE

JBIII's new one is nice but could have been skimmed of about 20 min IMO. It's too long. I feel the same about B4 The Night Is Thru! It's infectious. I love the Afta-1 remix too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yNXgqiEdYw Hard to believe that B4 and lot of the other tracks are at least 3 years old. More info on Meshell's new album: http://www.meshell.com/ The vinyl bundle is appealing! Who's slated to play at the Brookyn HH Festival? I have all of the Crusaders albums on wax. I got some Joe Sample solo LPs too. Are you a fan as well? LD drops on May 12. What do you think?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPhh7a_gCJ0

I checked out Bop Alloy's album. I'm digging it. Another Night at Club Family is my standout. I used to love the Crusaders groove it samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J21Zr6ctBG0&feature=kp

Check your inbox! SZA's LP is fast becoming an early favorite of 2014. It's such a grower. Who do you plan on seeing? I plan on checking out both Meshell and Little Dragon in June. I just found out that the former has a new LP dropping in that month. It's already available for pre-order.
