  • Buzzcocks Bombed.

    18 mai 2010, 14h36m

    Thu 13 May – Buzzcocks

The show gave me 100 reasons never to see another show at Irviing Plaza, but the Buzzcocks was certainly not one of those reasons. Great show, and obviously a great set. The band rocked loud and hard, but every inch of Irving Plaza gave you a different sound perspective and the venue just plain stinks. The highlight that will always be remembered is the band stopping during E.S.P. to make an announcement that the NYPD were investigating a car that appeared to maybe be carrying a bomb. It was certainly surreal moment, but made the show all the better.

    Good times had by all.

    Set for the night:

    Boredom

  • Patti Smith Rocks New Brunswick

    18 mai 2010, 14h28m

Fri 30 Apr – Benefit Concert for the Court Tavern

    Set for the night:

30 April 2010, State Theatre, New Brunswick, NJ, USA
Ask the Angels, Redondo Beach, Free Money, Mother Rose, Ghost Dance, Beneath the Southern Cross, People Who Died, Pissing in a River, Gimme Shelter (spoken), Be My Baby, Dancing Barefoot, Because the Night, Babelogue/Rock n Roll Nigger/Gloria, (encore): People Have the Power*

Great show, Patti looked terrific and it was a lot of fun to see some good New Brunswick rock open up the show. It all was for a good cause and I was happy security finally gave in and just let people stand in the aisles and rock out. Sound could have been better, but Patti and her band were on point.

Mon 19 Apr – The Flaming Lips, Stardeath and White Dwarfs

A great show all around. Stardeath and White Dwarfs really surprised me with their heavy and in-your-face music. Lips put on a near-perfect show with a lot of craziness in between. Was very happy to get Watching the Planets and Morning of the Magicians. As cliche as it sounds, Do You Realize still brings the house down and suprisingly the Wellmont was a good fit for the band. Sound was stellar and all the Lips' hi-jinks managed to go off perfectly within the venue.

    Set for Wellmont Theatre 4-19-10

  • Bruce's Final Night at Giants Stadium

    15 oct. 2009, 15h57m

Fri 9 Oct – Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

It was time for Bruce to bring the wrecking ball and it came in the form of Born in the USA. Not my favorite album, but surely a fun one to rock to on a nice fall evening. Badlands/Spirit of the Night were nice to hear right in front of the set. Darlington County/Working on the Highway/Downbound Train were certainly highlights of Born. The band really knocked these ones out and did a fantastic job. Surprisingly, Bruce didn't take an encore, and the show sort of just ended after Jersey Girl. It was great to get this Tom Waits ballad, but many seemed disappointed with the show's abrupt ending. Perhaps the band saw the rain coming and figured it would be best to roll it in...either way...the energy in the stadium was unmatched from any other time I have seen the Boss play the Meadowlands. It was a historic night...now we wait for Bruce's string of shows for "opening Giant's stadium."

  • First night of Bruce

    15 oct. 2009, 15h52m

Thu 8 Oct – Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

You can't really argue with this setlist. It was a great night from start to finish. After Jungleland, the set slowed down to a near slow-dance pace, which I feel hurt the evening a little bit--but hey, at 60, Bruce deserves some downtime. The show clocked in near 3:15 minutes, so all in all, the audience certainly got its money worth. No Surrender/Sandy/Bobby Jean/--what a great run that was...and of course...Rosalita rounded the night out nicely.

Awesome sound as usual at the Troc. Great to have Nate back and man did the bass shake the house. The band was a lot tighter than I expected, they really sped through the songs, but in a good way, for a rockin' 1.5 hours. Great to see them back on stage and I sincerely hope the rumors of a forthcoming new album are true. The world needs more SDRE, and shows like this one.
