Tired eyes speakin' out and come baby... are my 3 favourites off that. But I agree about it being appraised as a "whole". You rarely find fillers or standout tracks on a few of Neil's great albums imo

Tonight's the Night has grown on me with further listens. I always rated it highly but it is certainly amongst my favourites now. Just can't decide between it and After The Gold Rush. Do you have a favourite track off the record?

If they are better than his novels then I will definitely check them out! True, no matter what field or avenue of life, there will pretty much always be someone that is ahead of you. It is not a race of course, I think if one improves on his former self in anyway then that is a success. I think competing against one's self is the best way to go imo.

I have read a couple of Orwell's novels, but I haven't heard of his essays but if his novels are anything to go by, they are probably worth a read. I am ashamed to say that I haven't read Anna Karenina (I have read War & Peace), but I shouldn't enter 2013 without having completed it. I have come across "The World as Will and Representation" but haven't actually read it either (damn I'm so far behind :P). I have thoroughly enjoyed the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Haven't read too much Blake aside from small extracts I did in college, but from what I remember I did like him. We looked at Thomas Hardy's poetry for like a whole year. Although there were some things I liked about his work, he just seemed to have the most depressing and pessimistic personality which really showed through his work. Congrats on that, must be quite fun getting to bash some films :P Finished reading "The Book of the New Sun" by Gene Wolfe and currently re-reading "The Hobbit" (I am quite a fan of fantasy fiction). The novel that perhaps had the most lasting impression on is "The Count of Monte Cristo". You reading anything atm?

I guess one must prioritize these days. I doubt you can now make a decent living money-wise if you were to release a novel in a writing style that is similar to Fitzgerald's. You have to write a book like 50 Shades of Grey or something like that :P I prefer Fitzgerald to Hemingway too. I'm also a big fan of poetry like Dylan Thomas. Ever read his stuff?

They sound pretty chill, I'm sure I would enjoy them live. They did tour in 2011 though, so I hope they can come again soon. Unfortunately no-one worth seeing comes to the UK :P Oh I see, so it is Jazz. Yeah I'm quite fond of that stuff too, makes me want to live in the twenties "Jazz Age" a la The Great Gatsby. Are you a fan of literature btw?

I can agree with that statement. I listened to their debut before I went on to Through the Trees and although there were a few good tracks, it seemed as though they were unsure of which direction they wanted to head down musically. That track is probably my third favourite. Really like"Stalled" too. That's the thing with some live shows, they can be quite overwhelming I guess no matter how good the artist. A friend of mine is a massive Bob Dylan fan but was a bit disappointed when he saw him live earlier this year. Trad as in folk and blues?I do like myself some Jazz. Despite all my curiosity I haven't ventured beyond the staples (Miles Davis,John Coltrane, Charles Mingus etc.)

Good to hear. Pretty much the same with me, got back home from uni last week and have more than 3 months to kill till uni restarts and have nothing planned. Might look for a job myself, although I'm not too optimistic about finding one! Good luck with everything and have a good summer :)

Damn. That is one hell of a compilation - might purchase it soon. John Lee Hooker is probably my favourite bluesman (?) now along with Howlin' Wolf and B.B. King. Though I feel like I'm only scratching the surface when it comes to the blues. I mean I listen to more blues-rock than Delta and Chicago blues. Thinking about checking out Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williamson next, Taj Mahal might be worth checking out too.

It is a nice place indeed, good change from London! Perhaps I was being a bit too harsh there lol. The term 'hipster' is subjective and I know many nice 'hipsters'. Not a fan of Lady Gaga by any means but I would say she is more talented than many of her chart contemporaries.
