Well that also could be the list you gave me, i also enjoy Tangerine Dream a lot because they are part of my "trinity", but not for "Phaedra", even if it's clearly one breat album. About Tangerine Dream i would place on top of my list "White Eagle" or even "better" if i could say: "Green Desert": have listening this album for tenth of hours, and for me, clearly the begining of what Ambient music is gonna be (maybe dark ambient..). The last one of my "trinity" is Vangelis, i know, this is far for the german's electronic's music "tradition", but this is what he is a part of. He started also at the same point, but really more classical in the way he sound, still, my favorite album from Vangelis is "Spiral", yet the second in the order is "Albedo 0.39", and in majority the records done in the 70's.

This album is always in my top! Their performance in Glastonbury 1993 - for me butterflies in stomach.. And I am a fan of Simon Jones, his bass guitar makes me swing every time. Thank you for your words :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ibk0aubYswo

I was dreamin' of ships In the evenin' sun My tongue on the ocean Made me feel all numb There was no sadness, no, nothing was wrong Just cotton and velvet I need not a song The poet barks mouth full of stars says you better find someone before it's too dark Oh, before it's too dark Oh, milky flowers under the sun and I, the king of nowhere still on the run Oh, imaginary heroes I'm as lonely as one they got me talkin', they got me talkin' to the bluebirds honey, honey, where have I gone?

Hello Mark, just like to shake your hand with regard to your shout on Sandy Denny's Next Time Around - Warm regards Paul........... Quote {Such a numinous voice and poetic lyrics. And that shivering string arrangement, reminiscent of the autumnal ambiance of Nick Drake's "River Man". Powerful } too right........cheers man!

Have to agree about Odessy and Oracle too, I'm not very familiar with it (yet) but it is very good. I find both Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds to be a bit overplayed. I have the Stereo SF Sorrow, and I like a lot of krautrock, maybe not as obsessively as Julian Cope but I love the slightly warped take on things that comes out of Europe. Not keen on Guru Guru, bit blues-based-stoner-rock for me, but things like Faust, Harmonia, Neu, Popol Vuh, Ashra, Can and even earlier Kraftwerk. outside of Germany, I also like Magma, Univers Zero, Art Zoyd etc, but for some reason the Italian prog leaves me a bit cold, probably too show-offy and less truly experimental, in a similar way there is a certain type of Brit prog that I don't get on with, like ELP - all flash and not much substance to me.

Bang on the nail there about SF Sorrow, Mark. I love the album and have always found Tommy somewhat overblown. Do you have the double CD with the extra tracks (couple of singles and b-sides) and a live version of Sorrow? Very good indeed, and the album Parachute is also well worth a listen

À propos de moi

I'm a very open minded seeker and I have always been able to talk to and meet anyone. I always am myself whether in solitude or with people and I also find it refreshing and fascinating to connect with new people in the same way. I'm interested in who someone is as his/her self alone. I really dig nature, poetry, music, film and filmmaking.
