Thank you very much! You have a interesting collection, must have a look at Mosolov, who I don't know yet...

I enjoy both interpretations of this nocturne, in fact. I tried to play it once, but it wasn't any good since I had no time to learn it. But the piece itself is fascinating (as well is Mosolov's composing language in common.) I would recommend his piano sonatas - you may find the 2nd and 5th here - http://[spam]/music/classical/early_20th_century/peachfuzz_mosolov-ecm1569.html Then, the Iron Foundry is considered his most famous creation, but I worship his Piano Concerto and the First Sonata - I uploaded them for you as it is hardy possible to find them Also, there are such figures as Nikolai Roslavets and Arthur Lourie, which stand next to Mosolov in the realm of Soviet avantgarde composers.

Yes, I have a special fondness of the piano itself (which, I suppose, we may have in common). Well, some of them may be the 20th century composers which are, to my regret, very little known by now. Did you like Mosolov's first nocturne which I see you have recently listened to?

All it took is one single (1st) track off Hamelin's version of Grand Sonate for Alkan to secure his # 1 on my classical list. Kabalevsky - check out his 3rd piano sonata. His other sonatas and Piano concertos are very good too. Unlike Ravel/Debussy's material, Kabalevsky's takes a while to digest, weeks I'd say. He's got very sophisticated material.

thanks, you have great taste as well, almost identical to mine! good to see Alkan as your #1 and Ravel and Debussy in your top 5. What do you think about Kabalevesky piano concertos and sonatas?
