Patrick Wolf? Okay
E-Rotic? I'm slightly worried...
Someone should hold a mixtape contest on LJ with points for theme, flow, musical taste (although that's debatable whether that should be included because then the indie people will just mark down those who don't listen to the same 10 bands they do ie Postal Service, Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Frou Frou, Tilly & The Wall, Mirah, Of Montreal, Animal Collective, Mates of State, Decemberists, Mountain Goats, Xiu Xiu etc. Ugh. Sorry. /rant. I just hate when people think that's the only valid way to have musical taste or that that makes them better than everyone else.), cover artwork, matching to people's tastes. I dunno how it would work though because you'd have to get everyone to send everyone else a copy of their mixes which'd mean you'd be making like 20 copies, so that everyone could compare. And if you had one person as a judge or something then nobody would get to hear them all. I spose it could be like the Radio 1 album amnesty where everyone sends one in and the winner gets the lot.
Patrick Wolf is god; E-Rotic are a bit of an embarrassment, I know, but they really did seem to *fit*. You know how it is. Not that it helps but that CD's called We Are The Boys. And is pretty cool. :) I mean, I'd give you the tracklist but I'd imagine you, like me, are one of those people who likes to be surprised by them.
Also, ha ha ha ha YES. God. The bloody Postal Service and the Decemberists and Sufjan Stevens really get on my nerves. I wouldn't want a *competition*, necessarily, just for people to wake up and *realise* what they should be doing with mixes. I might have to rant about that on kittensounds sometime.
