A lot of New shit! Fall of Troy, Omar A Rodriguez Lopez, Chiodos

Today has been probabally my newest muic day ever- I say that like it possibly makes sense, but fuck it. I had to drive to Manhattan to empty out my dorm, so I burned myself 2 albums. First, the brand new The Fall of Troy cd, Manipulator. This is possibly my new favorite album. I think this album worked very well considering The Fall of Troy's expirmental mentallity has always been there. They have always been on the edge of what is post-hardcore and what is progressive rock. It;s really interesting because this genre is really Progressive Hardcore, if not actually just progressive everything. Each song is very different, I wish I wasn't to lazy to go into detail, but basicly there are 5 really awesome, full out mosh breakdowns, which they usually never play. Hell there are even 2 straight up Chugga Chugga breakdowns. In between that, you have a very interesting blend of rock and and even and oddl Blood Brothers style pop, combined well with Thomas' high piched screams and his new deeper screams. Also some girl sings on the album, and it works very well in contrast, its very high pitched though and can get a little annoying. I think this is a positive change for a hardcore band to be less generic (unlike the new He is Legend, which is just fucking bland). Yea. This is not well written but what ever. Listen to it. Enjoy the danciness, scream loud, and feel free to parking lot mosh.

One things that bothers me though is, this is Thomas Erak's album more than ever. Tim's bass lines are turned down much more, to the point they aren't noticeable, and Andrew's drums are toned down and simplifyed, but his signature fills are also there. Oh did I also mention there is a song with just Thom playing guitar and singing.

Yea some of these songs have shitty lyrics, but who cares? The overall sound is great and diverse…

Basicly, if you like calm rock suddenly going ape-shit into a brutal poppy hardcore with dancable traa laa laa no one reads this anyways. Yea just get the album anyways or eat a dick.

I also got the new Omar A. rodriguez Lopez album. its pretty sweet, With cedric guesting, its like having 3 new mars volta songs. Its very cinematic and the shortened wordless "Please Heat this eventually" is much better than the pile of shit the 30 minute song was.

OH! I just heard the new Chiodos demo on myspace. Its really cool, there is dual vocals, craig owens, and possibly also craig owens, I have no idea, but its much deeper and gutteral, but not to generic hardcore. Basicly its Chiodos but less pussy. Thats a lie, you can't be chiodos without being a pussy.
