Same here. I didn't expected anything but their new album is possibly my favorite 2014's release. Now I just hope this new album will be as good on stage, but I have no doubt about it.

Hi! No problem at all, I just hope for you it was nothing too serious or annoying. I'm really glad you enjoyed the review, especially with the criticism! I'm not counting anymore the number of insulting / threatening mails / messages I received because I included some negative points in my reviews or live-reports. xD But I think we agree that constructive criticism isn't a bad thing at all. Even as a reviewer, I like to get some occasionally. It helps me to improve about my writing. By the way, any album you enjoyed lately? Heard a lot of good things about Clouds, but still didn't checked it out.

I think there are two highlights on it, tracks 2 and 4. The rest is not impressing me much, but I think it's good overall.

I get your point. :-) As I said, it's surely not a favorite on my side... although it's not really bad either. Surely not as great as Clouds' new album. ;-)

If I may... We've got Remembrance among quite good funeral doom bands here in France. Both members are also in Lethian Dreams, by the way. "Fall, obsidian night" is not my favorite funeral doom album, but it's not a bad pick either.

Ok, ok. You won the fanboy title, definitively. Their logo is beautiful so great choice! You made it long ago? I wanted to make a tattoo of Subrosa's "No Help for the Mighty Ones" artwork (fanboy 2.0) but my finances said : "NO!". If I made it, I should have been forced to eat pasta everyday. And it's very hard to find a job when you're student here. Soo... I guess it's going to happen someday. Someday... haha. Well then yes, I already read some of your reviews! I often visit AMG to keep updated about new interesting releases, and the name Noctus is not unknown to me. But didn't knew it was you. :D As for Lethian Dreams' debut album, I can't even remember a song from this release. It didn't marked me I suppose.

I still need to listen to last Lethian Dreams' album. They released one recently and I hope it's going to be as good as "Season of Raven Words". Glad you like them anyway! :) Will check this one and tell you about my thoughts. I always enjoy to discover new things so again thank you for the recommendation! Oh, you're reviewer too? On which website? Maybe I already read some of yours without knowing it was written by you! I admit the first listens left me a little cold but strangely now it really grows on me. More than their previous release, to be honest. Not that "Marrow of the Spirit" was bad (they only have good albums - call me fanboy if you want :D) but I couldn't completely get into. "The Serpent & the Sphere" is now enjoyable to me and I'm sure I'll like it even more after a few listens. But honestly I wouldn't like to be in your position : having to review an album you find disappointing by a band you love is always kinda hard. Wish I could see them live anyway! :)

Never heard about Pantheist to be honest, I'll gladly listen to them! Again, any album to start with or I can check randomly one? As for the comparison to Fen and Summoning, I must admit he isn't wrong. And as Summoning is one of my favorite band, this is definitively flattering comparisons! Hope you'll enjoy Angellore then. I try to think about doom bands from France but I don't think it's a very common musical genre here. There's not so much fans of this genre from what I know, sadly. But you can maybe check out Oruga or Lethian Dreams. By the way, as you're also a fan of Agalloch, what do you think about their last album? :)

  • Sanguine_Sky

So I followed your recommendation and listened twice to Esoteric's CDs. I just wonder now : why didn't I checked this earlier? So far this album just sounds mesmerizing and I only listened it twice. I know it's going to grow on me, with a crush on "Beneath This Face". I guess I'll have a closer look on their discography. Are they an influence for your music in any way? Oh, and as you like doom metal, may I recommend you to check out french doom band Angellore? They are one of the few french doom bands I know, and their debut album is promising. Not perfect but it has a huge potential. Sounds more like bands such as Saturnus or Draconian (without female vocals), so totally different than funeral doom. If the description sounds great to you, check them out. And I am curious to know what you'll think about them. The singer is on last.fm, and a huge doom metal fan. Maybe you should share with him Of Solitude and Solemn? His username is Gounouman_hl, and I think he can like your work. :)

Discovered and listened to your project Of Solitude and Solemn recently and "Starlight's Guide" sounds pretty good to me! Bought it on your Bandcamp, hope it helps a little. Oh, and nice taste in music as well! Keep up the good work. ;-)

It has grown on me, I feel like it is a bit too consistent too, I wanted more soft and emotional shit though. It is not a thing that I would loop over and over though, Rosetta never is. There is still something that I find very inspiring...

  • PantheistUK

I would love to see any of our releases on vinyl, but so far we haven't found any labels interested to issue them. One of the problems being that it will have to be double vinyl releases (due to the length of the albums), which cost more money. But we keep trying! Have been getting more into vinyl myself in the last few years, some releases (especially older albums) often sound better on vinyl, but maybe that's just nostalgia ;)

    mars 2013
  • PantheistUK

I'm sure it will-will be looking forward to hear it when it comes out :)

    mars 2013
  • PantheistUK

Well you definitely have your own sound there, you shouldn't worry about this ;) And it's a honour to hear our stuff has influenced your project, usually we only hear from generic funeral doom bands that we have been an influence, haha. Regarding the equipment I agree on this part, there is nothing wrong with the performance but you can tell the vocals have been recorded with a cheap mic, a more professional equipment will make them blend more nicely with the rest of the tracks. But this is only minor criticism, generally I'm quite impressed :)

  • PantheistUK

Hey Joe, this is a very pleasant surprise, really like the way you weave postrock/shoegaze sounds into doom metal. Very tranquil and meditative, thoroughly enjoying what I hear!
