I growed up listening to the 80's british invasion…i always loved bands like Joy Division, Siouxsie, Bauhaus…and i always loved the new romantic era…Bowie, Human league, Gary Numan, Visage, Kraftwerk and of course Duran Duran. So i was scared when i heard about the new Duran Duran direction…when i heard they were working with producer Timbaland and the superstar Justin Timberlake, I thought they were going to sell their asses to the music business…of course Duran Duran always played pop music, but it was a different pop music…they always sounded like a crossover…between pop, wave, funk, electro…according to Korn's Jonathan Davis they were the first crossover band in the planet (don't forget the original John Taylor's mission was to find a mix between Sex pistols and the Chic.
Now i had the chance to listen to some brand new songs from the new album…performed live at the Berrymore theatre in New York City on november 1, 2007 (of course).
Well…i'm quite excited…seems they recovered their original sound…and seems they are wearing it with modern Timbaland beats…there is lots of dance stuff…especially "tempted" is a very "dancefloor-song", and lots of experimental tracks…seems they are keeping their punk attitude.
