strawberry jam is better than feels... and alopecia is better than elephant eyelash... in my opinion, if this is what you feel, thats fine

• Charactarantu1a

fair points, was a close thing deciding in both of those cases but i think i was just about right.

• FinalPizzaHut

Nah, I'm with you in thinking Elephant Eyelash is better than Alopecia.

Untrue = Best album ever?! .... wow

17 juin 2009, 14h30m
• Charactarantu1a

a surprising choice i suppose, but it has to be the album that's affected me the most. so many moments on there i just always have to stop to be amazed by, even after having heard it so many times. oh and this is now top 30 :)

Mainpulator over Doppelganger? What the actual fuck, Tom.

17 juin 2009, 16h25m
• SixShooterSam

shitty list, and a lot of the time it's not even close to the best album of the artist in mention.

18 juin 2009, 2h25m
• 1nnervision

so basically a bunch of hipster bullshit of the 2000's? list sucks. not to mention amputechture is tmv's worst album. fail.

18 juin 2009, 17h10m
• Charactarantu1a

SixShooter Sam: which albums are you referring to specifically? no artist has an objective "best album", i merely went with those i find most inspiring, enjoyable etc. 1nnervision: i see no "hipster bullshit", but i feel fairly sure that even that would be preferable to bland and dull music like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Arctic Monkeys. fuck you. Amputechture is easily my favourite Mars Volta album, that was possibly the easiest choice of all. read up to leoislostatsea's post. if you're going to disagree, that's the way to go about it, and doesn't involve being a dick. it's my favourite albums.

Nice list. Ampuechture is a class album and props for the GY!BE inclusion. That album has me in tears when I listen to it. I do think In/Casino/out is a better album than ROC but it's a close run thing.

that is a pretty amazing list dude

it's funny how you counter "hipster bullshit" by proving my point and listing two mainstream bands FROM THIS DECADE (you must not even know the definition of hipster, otherwise you would have been alittle wiser before replying). i'm guessing you're about 16 years old, since you're claiming that the majority of "greatest albums ever" are from the 2000s? Do you understand how ignorant that makes you, completely disregarding decades of music and genres (you have indie bands and electronic groups, how eclectic!) that have pioneered and influenced music even today? also LMAO @ fall of troy/screamo being considered the 15th greatest album of all time. I'm sure all of the legitimate (not your dipshit friends on this site) music critics are with you on that one!

• Charactarantu1a

i am about to turn 19 years old. i don't disregard previous decades of music, but i would definitely say that i find music from the 2000s more interesting in general. there's nothing ignorant about that, it's personal preference based on the fact that i like experimental music. i didn't claim anywhere to be eclectic but i think the above list is, fairly. again, i didn't claim objectivity like you're implying, it's all about my FAVOURITE albums, something different entirely. you'll notice nowhere have i used the word "greatest", only you have. the fall of troy are a band that have had a massive impact on me during the last few years, they're one of many that have helped shape my music taste.

incredibly idiotic, not to mention shittily written, comment. what should i have done, left some of my favourite albums off the list because some moron somewhere might think of it as "hipster bullshit"?

19 juin 2009, 20h27m
• 1nnervision

"i don't disregard previous decades of music." Yes, you do. any reasonably knowledgeable person not a 2000's indie rock fanboy would point this out. And it's foolish for you to think this crappy list is "eclectic", considering it looks like you just frequent pitchfork media and listen to anything that gets a rave review on that site. it's too great of a coincidence to deny, you need to expand your horizons and not be so confined to hipster trash.

1nnervision, it's HIS favorite stuff. if it's what he's into, then it's what he's into. i don't agree with most of the artists on the list but there's no reason to get so offensive about it. listen to the red hot chili peppers, incubus, and nine inch nails...eww

nice list. Some great names in there. Just discovering GY!BE, Isis and a few other atm actually. Needs more pixies/qotsa/radiohead imo though :P @1nnervision: I don't know wtf you're problem is. It's HIS top 40 albums ever. They are good artists, it's not like he's gone for Good Charlotte and Britney Spears. Jesus Christ.

• samL_33

Incidentally, i agree that Pitchfork Media are a bunch of attention seeking douchebags who have given plenty of fantastic albums less than 5.0/10.0 (that decimal stuff also shits me) just to be different. But attacking people like that on makes you worse imo.

1nnervision: stop trying to argue, because you aren't good at it. your arguments are weak. you criticise my taste for not being eclectic enough, even though A) i did not even intend the list to be eclectic at all and B) it is quite clearly more so than your own taste. you seem t o think i should include music from other decades...why? almost all of my favourite music was released this decade. not saying that's a good or bad thing or makes me any better, that is just how it is. indie fanboy? take a closer look at the list then look at your own charts, arctic monkeys boy. i don't really frequent pitchfork much, only sometimes to read reviews of music i already like. they're often alright, although not always (as you'll know being a mars volta fan). i'll just let you leave quietly to spare you the embarrassment. laters.
