Thanks for joining us on the island, and for submitting your top 8 tracks, Ffinlo ... I'll pop along to your makeshift hut, sometime, and listen to your excellent tracks ... (especially Trains - a classic track indeed) ... If, after a few days you remember a song or two you've missed off the list, there's always a Second Desert Island

Thanks for the heads up! As I'll be living next to the Royal Albert Hall I'm going to see if I can get a cheap ticket from a scalper just as the gig starts.

I agree with you about Subterranea, also to me Frequency. I think we share same kind of music. Did you hear The Whirlwind by transatlantic? Really good to listen in quiet and reflexive moments. Bye and expect answer. Gus

Maybe you should try with something earlier, like 'Erpland' or 'Jurassic Shift' and with one of my favorite albums 'The Hidden Step'.

I'm sorry for my terrible mistake, 1995 The Sky Moves Sideways Up, it is , in fact, the Third Studio Album from PT.. Voyage 24 is a Special Edition, but it too a genius album.. In fact, everything that talks about LSD and its effects it is Brilliant!

À propos de moi

I come from the Isle of Man originally, which is technically part of the UK, but mentally a very independent country. I studied at LSE and had an awesome time, especially gig wise (the manic Street Preachers and NIN/JA/Mew live shows were immense; Porcupine Trees one at the Hammersmith Apollo was also amazing, such a good vibe!). I've also been to Leeds and Download in 2009, and plan to go to at least one this year, although I haven't decided which. I love all sorts of music - i was brought up on RHCP,, the Moody Blues, AFI and Nirvana but now like all sorts from metal to prog rock (even the overtly pretensious stuff on occasion), and whatever else I happen to come across (recently punk, post rock, interesting indie like Animal Collective & Mew and other such joys).

The Nostalgia Factory

A Caterpillar crawled to me one day and said
Oh what the hell goes on inside your swollen head?
I don't believe that you can see as much as I
Now close your eyes and tell me what do you say?
I watched nine cats dance on the moon
A flamingo stalked into my room
It bowed its head to me and knelt
To reveal the cards it had dealt
An ace, three jacks, two queens, four kings
Then turned them into burning rings
The flames jumped out and chased four mice
Caught by their tails they turned to ice
A cloud appeared outside my door
And through the window saw four more
And on the back of each cloud sat
Two rainbow smiles in wizard's hats
They threw five clocks down on my bed
The chimes danced out on golden threads
And turned to footprints on my wall
Sequined tears began to fall
The caterpillar gasped at me and said
My god if that's what's going on inside your head
You can see so much more than I
I think it's time to turn into a butterfly.

Genesis: Mad Man Moon

Was it summer when the river ran dry,
Or was it just another dam.
When the evil of a snowflake in June
Could still be a source of relief.
O how I love you, I once cried long ago,
But I was the one who decided to go.
To search beyond the final crest,
Though I'd heard it said just birds could dwell so high.

So I pretended to have wings for my arms
And took off in the air.
I flew to places which the clouds never see,
Too close to the deserts of sand,
Where a thousand mirages, the shepherds of lies
Forced me to land and take a disguise.
I would welcome a horse's kick to send me back
If I could find a horse not made of sand.

If this desert's all there'll ever be
Then tell me what becomes of me.
A fall of rain?
That must have been another of your dreams,
A dream of mad man moon.

Hey man,
I'm the sand man.
And boy have I news for you;
They're gonna throw you in gaol
And you know they can't fail
'Cos sand is thicker than blood.
But a prison in sand
Is a haven in hell,
For a gaol can give you a goal
[and a] goal can find you a role
On a muddy pitch in Newcastle,
Where it rains so much
You can't wait for a touch
Of sun and sand, sun and sand...

Within the valley of shadowless death
They pray for thunderclouds and rain,
But to the multitude who stand in the rain
Heaven is where the sun shines.
The grass will be greener till the stems turn to brown
And thoughts will fly higher till the earth brings them down.
Forever caught in desert lands one has to learn
To disbelieve the sea.

If this desert's all there'll ever be
Then tell me what becomes of me.
A fall of rain?
That must have been another of your dreams,
A dream of mad man moon.
