I know what you mean. The first five songs or so on their full-length are favorites of mine, but most of the others sound rather amelodic, and obnoxious in a bad way.

Honestly, I'm one of those people that changes their interest of music every year. I had my ska phases, my death metal phases, and right now I'm in a weird limbo where I'm trying to be open to anything, but i never have the time to listen to much music, so I end up playing the same albums on repeat for days. The majority of what I listen to is hip hop, but that's because I love intelligent word play, poetry, really hard thumping beats (being that I produce rythmes myself), and the distinction between each rapper's style. To me it's just feel good music. I think I've heard so many upstrokes from ska music mixed with hardcore screams, I just prefer the softer ska music right now. Some Skankin Pickle would be really nice right now. :)

I am attracted to the idea of voluntaryism, all individual human action should ideally be voluntary. the libertarian philosophy has convinced me that the state is illegitimate and its characteristics are corruptible/corrupting, wasteful/inefficient, and a one trick pony that knows how to steal since 'we the people' allow it to have a monopoly on the use of 'legitimate' violence. however, I have also read many leftist books and they have some strong arguments on the illegitimacy of capitalism run amok. I will continue to read, have dialogues/arguments, and try to be active as I can. Its hard to chose a side when you see the different points of view and arguments.

the leftists would say capitalism is, to use that Marxist term, 'inevitably' always a problem. that like an oily face that is prone to cysts, zits/parasites so too does the capitalist system invariably turn into what we now have. And, well, those financial terrorists did arise in (how ever far back you trace their lineage) a capitalist system. I don't want socialism/facism, but my question to libertarians is how do you prevent that from happening? because it did. so what do we have now? what do you want to call it? i think it is a unique historical hybrid of some semblance of a free market, some 'delusional' democracy, a beleaguered constitutional republic with a decaying bill of rights and eroding civil liberties AND, oh yea don't forget about the increasingly powerful fascist/corporatist elements and military industrial complex. We live in an age of consequences in dire need of solutions. Independent critical thinking being foremost.

I don't really use this that much, so the music isn't exactly 100% representative. I see you are into more obscure bands. When I was younger it was more important to me to search out such bands, but, I haven't the patience anymore to do so. Maybe I'll check out some on yer playlist. 'Capitalist vultures' is from an F-Minus song 'Vultures'. With the lyrics something like 'capitalist vultures circle our dying nation, drawn by the scent of desperation.' I would for the most part agree with that statement as we have a zombie economy that is being looted and scavenged by such creatures... As far as capitalism is concerned, well, I tend to be a left libertarian. I'm no anarcho-capitalist but I've read and appreciated some Rothbard. I don't have the rosy view of capitalism that most libertarians do... I understand the idealistic view of capitalism but I fail to see how that is implemented and maintained. Is capitalism the most freeing force for humanity? Hmm... Yea, don't know about that.

Lately, I have really been pulling a couple of albums off my hard-drive and playing them for like half a month. Every 2-3 weeks, I rinse and repeat. I'm trying to cycle through all my music just to see what I have forgotten. Hip-Hop, Japanese Electro music, and Modern-Emo revivalist punk music have been my mainstays. Some pop and pop -punk tends to work its way in here and there.

Oh God, Angry Banana. Anyway. Um, I've haven't been keeping too much of an eye on punk/ska/folk lately because I've been re-discovering other stuff, but I would keep an eye out on the new Dads album American Radass coming out in August. There was the new Joie de Vivre album that just came out. Ramshackle Glory had an excellent album come out recently. Sailor Heart's new album was noteworthy. And I'd suggest checking out the Dowsing/Parker split. I think I have more stuff written down in a notepad for good releases this year, but I don't know where. I can tell you if I stumble across it.

Alright thanks, I'll take a look. I literally just bought a new desktop, so I guess I don't really need 'lightweight'. I was put off previously by the lack of a nice simple music player like foobar2k. What do you use?
