Top Reasons Why 2011 Will Be Great Pt.2

Welcome to Pt.2 of my "Top Reasons Why 2011 Will Be Great." To go back and view Pt.1 click here. Without further due, to continue where we left off:

12) In Flames – TBA:

In Flames has always been one of my favorite riff writers in the metal industry and with the departure of founding member and lead guitarist Jasper Stromboli, I don’t know if I will like the new In Flames material. I’m putting it into my top things to look for in 2011 simply because I’m hoping for a surprise from In Flames. The kind of surprise that will not make me punch a wall in anger.

13) Necrophagist – TBA:

It’s been 6 years since Necrophagist released a new album to terrorize the world. That is too long for my blood. Originally a new album was supposed to be a late 2010 release but I’m assuming that production got pushed back because the computer programs simply could not handle the intensity that is Necrophagist. Hurry up guys! The world waits.

14) Opeth – TBA:

It seems that the progressive metallers Opeth is one of those bands that simply can do no wrong so I’m looking forward to a well-produced and well-written 2011 release. If it is anything less than great* (Blasphemy, I know, for even mentioning Opeth<great) than I will surely shocked and disappointed.

*Not going to happen

15)Protest the Hero – TBA:

Protest the Hero is another progressive metal band that doesn’t disappoint me no matter what they do. A lot of people give Rody Walker a bad time for his unique vocals but to each his own I guess. Rody stated that this new album will be much more progressive than previous albums (Kezia, Fortress). I have no idea what that means because I thought Fortress was as progressive as they could get. It just gets my chomps wet thinking about what Protest has in store.

16) Symphony X – TBA:

Symphony X is one of those bands where you either love them or hate them. One thing is for sure, whether it is Michael Romeo’s chops to Russell Allen’s pipes, Symphony X never fails to be innovative in the progressive metal community. Symphony X doesn’t let their older age hold them back from competing with the large array of young bands out there. They can manage to be melodic and heavy all in the same vein. I think this next album will be heavier than their last efforts, and not just because Michael Romeo is on it (lawl had to do it).

17) Devin Townsend ProjectDeconstruction/Ghost:

Not only will we get one Devin Townsend album in 2011 but two!!! Woo7!11!! Deconstruction has been described by Townsend as "chaotic was trying to achieve with Strapping Young Lad." More chaotic than SYL?! Will my brain implode? Most likely but I’m alright with that. On the other hand, Ghost will be more of a New Age/ambient album, which makes it the perfect counterpoint to Deconstruction. Great! I can have my brain demolished and feel completely relaxed all in the same day. Expect a March, 2011 release for this epicness.

18) Into Eternity – TBA:

I was super scared when Into Eternity went completely inactive after their 2008 release The Incurable Tragedy. But after many months of wiki page refreshes and message board scavenging I found the great news that Into Eternity shall be releasing a new album in 2011. Guitarist Tim Roth stated this: "This week we demoed a new song with a real catchy chorus. It's called, 'Devoured By Sarcopenia'." He added, "I can promise that this new song is going to be killer."

With that, I have concluded that 2011 is going to be a great year to be into metal. Any suggestions as to why you think 2011 will be a great year (or even a bad year) to be into metal, please let me know in the comment section below. Best of wishes for you, your friends, and family in 2011.
