all songs have melody, but the power metal have more melody then speed, thrash. progressive metal have more harmony, thrash have more insanity, anyway for me "melodic power metal" is a pleonasm.

MDM + Power Metal is just "extreme Power Metal" whether it includes growling or not. Melodic Power Metal is modern Power Metal like SA, Stratovarius, Edguy and Masterplan, whilst "regular" Power Metal is stuff like Iced Earth, Running Wild, Grave Digger and Savatage. at least that's how I see it.
