Ever since Front 242 started up in 1981 the number 242 has held a special position in the numerology of Electronic Body Music. Using the date format often used in Europe (dd/mm = 24/2) it's fairly obvious why the International EBM day is celebrated on february 24. Though people over the world probably have celebrated this day before along with their friends, it has never been an official celebration day before. But from now on, every year on february the 24th; it's International EBM day! Its only purpose is that all EBM fans over the world now have a special day when they can get together and listen to, or dance to, or party to, Electronic Body Music. http://www.internationalebmday.org/ Congratulations!!!

And as much as I would beg for neither Combichrist or VNV to be in the top 8, I would have Combichrist over VNV any day lol... And One, yeah - :wumpscut: ? Electro-industrial. Apop and Covenant, not really. And Assemblage 23 is in the same music genre as VNV, so no :P

Aggression made EBM, so anything sounds like early Die Krupps, DAF, Spetsnaz, Nitzer Ebb, FRONT 242, A Split Second, BIGOD 20, etc. is worthy of the title of "|ebm|"

VNV Nation sounds like Kraftwerk, who coined the term EBM... BUT Old school EBM was always aggressive, and for me that was a successful staple in EBM so I don't regard VNV as ebm no more, yeah they covered Front 242 - I prefer the original of Circling Overland by far

I came here looking for some oldschool EBM, but with all this fake EBM trance nonsense going on I'll be on my way.

Long Live EBM - Electronic Body (or Bondage, sure) Music. I'm just surprised how many people feel that EBM is dark though, which I could see if you consider EBM to mean any type of Electro Black Metal. I think VNV Nation is a great rep for EBM, as they are less agressive, but their beats will definitely make your body move. Although I don't really care for the term Aggrotech, I really feel that's a lot better classification for what a lot of people here are arguing.

Probably one of the worst music genres ever. Electronic music for dumb Metalheads. Only thing that differs it from shit like Euro trance is so obviously fake "dark" lyrics and image. Funny stuff.

They are dark electro/electro-industrial... Old school EBM is a far better type of music, I don't mean pure old EBM like DAF, I mean the bands I listed before

"VNV Nation", great band, don't get me wrong - they just water down all the aggression of "EBM" into what they once called futurepop, which is a great musical experience... but it's not what EBM should sound like.

Lol. All I gotta say is: If VNV Nation, Covenant, :wumpscut: and most surprisingly "WOLFSHEIM" are considered "ebm", then surely She Wants Revenge must be darkwave.

The "Top Artists" bit does feel a bit misleading. VNV Nation? Apoptygma Berzerk? Covenant? Assemblage 23? Huh?
