Thanks, but I basically just said the same stuff that the first paragraph of the Wikipedia entry for dubstep says. It's the basics of dubstep :P Again, I'd advise you to check out the last.fm page for the artist and check out the tags there: http://www.last.fm/music/Zomby It's essentially the same as asking the entire fanbase on last.fm this very question. And yes, Zomby makes dubstep, but it's a bit different than most dubstep. He's signed to Hyperdub, and that label has some pretty unique output. ...and I'm overdoing the explaining here.

Uh... Because it's not dubstep..? If you listened to any dubstep, you'd know it wasn't, but this should get you a bit up to speed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJzfTZlEl40 . Basically: Dubstep is generally ~140 bpm (the song you linked to is ~122 bpm), has a kick drum on the first beat and a snare on the third beat (the tempo seems to be half of what it actually is), heavy bass and wobbles more often than not. Also, may I suggest checking out the artist tags for Audio Bullys, which say "house" and "dance"?

Because my friend, its a FAD, its just all the students that dont have any real identity of their own just following each other lisening to bland gash music and claiming its amazing. Mate you want base ? Lisen to me fart. Trust me, starting in 2005 it was emo then it was indie from 06-7 onwards now its dubstep... trust in 5 months time itll be something else equally as gash. Still if you enjoy it, enjoy it.

Dubstep is defined by its subbass, its 2step drums, and grimey feel all of which burial has, he has quite a bit of bass sometimes, just never wobbles

@Saturnalian: Wobble isn't a requirement for being dubstep. Just check out "Namida" by Reso and "Distant Dawn" (the whole "One of Us" album is great) by Kryptic Minds. Those tracks are great examples of dubstep that's a bit different and doesn't indulge in wobble. As you say, Burial is dubstep, but still doesn't wobble.

If Burial is dubstep, why does he sound so different from say Skream or Benga? Burial definitely doesn't wobble.

What you can conclude from reading a lot of comments on here, is that dubstep really needs established subgenres, but I guess there aren't enough people that care (I can find it quite annoying that its hard to give it a track a proper genre background, but really, just enjoy the music shall we?).

A newly up loaded dubstep track called '[track artist=Shyft]Dragon's Breath[/track]' could use some listener love. It has a vocoder! And the deep bass and all that good stuff}=<))
