Dérivée de la techno traditionnelle, la techno minimale propose une structure et un champ spectral plus minimaliste. Un tempo plus lent (de l’ordre de 120 à 130 bpm), des variations rythmiques et séquentielles moins fréquentes, une couverture du spectre plus découpée et des basses qui s’étirent en contraste avec des percussions très brèves et aigües sont le propre de ce genre.
