The Machine in the Garden is a gothic/darkwave duo featuring Roger Fracé and Summer Bowman. Since their formation, Roger and Summer have developed and advanced their unique style through years of collaborating and intertwining their musical tastes. Since formation in the early 1990s, the band has developed their own unique style and released seven full-length albums and one EP.

I think they are a very interesting band. The singer's voice is the major reason of my interests in their works. I consider them exceptional and characteristic in genere, and their songs grow on me with each time I listen to it.

No once a "cheap ethereal voice", imho. Even no once "ehereal". Cheap heavely voice is This Mortal Coil, for instance. Here is a typically gothic female vocal that is a good representation of US dark scene, like Faith and The Muse, Sunshine Blind, Ego Likeness. I'm very impressed.
