Wolfmother est un groupe de musique rock originaire de Erskineville, Sydney, Australie.
Il est composé de :

Andrew Stockdale - Chanteur, Guitare (2000-jusqu’à présent)
Dave Atkins – Batterie (2008–jusqu’à présent)
Ian Peres – Basse, clavier, chœurs (2009–jusqu’à présent)
Aidan Nemeth – Guitare rythmique (2009–jusqu’à présent)

Leur style est souvent décrit comme du rock Heavy ou psychédélique. Des comparaisons sont souvent effectuées avec des groupes comme Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin ou encore Deep Purple.

En 2004, Wolfmother commence à apparaître à des festivals de plus en plus gros, comme Homebake ou encore Big Day Out. Ils ont fait paraître leur premier EP éponyme via Modular Recordings en septembre (2004). Cet EP fut un succès avec des ventes totales dépassant les 10000 exemplaires, ventes soutenues par une diffusion radio locale constante.

En 2005, le groupe continue sa route en direction de LA, travaille avec le producteur Dave Sardy (de Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson ou encore Oasis) afin d’enregistrer leur premier album éponyme déjà très attendu, qui sera diffusé en octobre.

Le premier single à paraître sera « Mind’s Eye/Woman »

L’album débute directement en place numéro 3 dans les charts australiens et a longtemps défendu sa place dans le top 20.

En 2006, Rolling Stone reprend Wolfmother comme un de ses « Top 10 des groupes à voir. »

They may not be the most inventive band around, but they do know how to rock. More than makes up for it, IMO. Loving the '60s-'70s hard rock/psychedelic throwbacks.
