Vio-lence was a thrash metal band formed in 1985, that released a few demo tapes, one EP and 3 LPs between 1985 and 1993. Their most stable line-up was Phil Demmel and Robb Flynn on guitars, Dean Dell on bass, Perry Strickland on drums and Sean Killian on vocals.
After many line-up changes Robb Flynn (former Forbidden guitarist) joined the band. With this line-up, they signed a recording contract with Mechanic Records to release a demo tape in 1986 and a following album.
Soon after releasing their demo tape they entered the studio to record their debut album, called Eternal Nightmare, a seven track album released in 1988. It was well received in thrash metal circles.
Finally in 1990, their second album, Oppressing The Masses was launched on Megaforce Records with better distribution and marketing than their debut, Eternal Nightmare. A video for the song « World in a World » was also filmed.
In 1991 they released an EP Torture Tactics, which included three studio songs (old songs from the demo era which were recorded during the Oppressing The Masses sessions) and one live track from the Oppressing The Masses tour.
Internal conflicts in 1992 resulted in Robb Flynn’s departure from the band. He, along with Adam Duce, Logan Mader and Tony Constanza formed the seminal groove metal band Machine Head. Vio-lence recorded their third and final studio album titled Nothing to Gain, which was released in 1993. It was followed by Perry Strickland’s departure and the resulting dissolution of the band.

Flynn was pusshing Vio-Lence towards Groove Metal scene, eventualy, he understood, that his ego and musical preferences differs from other guys, so that's why he left. Even Demmel was with Vio- 'till the end and even he can't push MH to thrash, 'cause, again, Flynn's ego is too big to allow that. Flynn DEFINATELY was not the one, who drove the whole Vio- machine. And personaly, I've tried listening to MH, but haven't found anything appealing to me. Screetching voice of Killian fits perfectly, Dell is a beast... Much more balls. Sorry, that's just the way it is. MH is suited to fill commercial machine of our days - get the somewheat underaged crowd doin' and selling numbers when putting music to the second plan. I'm not trying to offend you, because I have no anger for those who are listening to Flynns music, but that is my, and hundreds of fully matured reveiwers opinion. I just pity of you, who spills shit on the band, that actually is responsible in forming of MH.

If there is nothing to argue about, then why every second comment tells us how gay machine head is, or how Robb Flynn this and that, with no proof what so ever. You could argue if they are thrash or not, that would make sense, since they have change their style since 2004, and definitely on the blackening. I agree they played a lot of nu metal or what ever, on few albums 1997 - 2001, which wasn't very good. But now, Flynn and Demmel both with thrash backgrounds played thrash a lot before, now back in a one band. The music is great. well yeah, as thrash its maybe not the best example, since Flynn can actually sing, scream etc. BUT what I fucking hate is that these fucks, who just witting shit about MH with no fucking evidence. If Vio-lence would be better then MH, you wouldn't even mention MH, because there probably wouldn't be any MH, because Flynn would stay with vio' or what ever.
