every trick in the book
how come i look?"

13 avr. 2007, 15h51m par ImissmyskyI'm actually pretty exhausted right now, so no huge rants today. Just want to announce my ongoing love for Thom Yorke. Weird thing is, I'm not into Radiohead much at all. I don't think I even have any of their albums.
But I've been listening to The Eraser ever since it came out (not so much on the computer, more on the cd player in the middle of the night, so I don't know how many scrobbles he has on here.). I really love The Eraser, especially these songs (which you should go download - or be very smart and buy the album =D)...
A self-fulfilling prophecy of endless possibility,
You roll in reams across the street in algebra, in algebra
And It Rained All Night
One little leak becomes a lake
Says the tiny voice in my earpiece
So I give in to the rhythm
The click click clack
I'm too wasted to fight back
Tick tack goes the pendulum on the old grandfather clock
I can see you
But I can never reach you
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
25 jan. 2007, 2h33m par gildedlinkFor the purpose of keeping this thing almost remotely up to date, a few of the songs that I've been listening to over and over in the past few days (if not in jetaudio or my cd player, then in my head. These don't show up in my normal listings because I don't use winamp as often as JA).
Ocean Breathes Salty
Can't Change Me
A Certain Shade Of Green
Bled for Days
Stranger Than Fiction
So Long Ago
The Clock (the acoustic version = amazing)
I'd say thats a few of them.
30 déc. 2006, 16h01m par MasterViViWell, everyone's doing it, so I can't stay behind: end year charts!
My favourite albums of this year:
When I buy an album, I keep on listening to it for several months, so I only listened to a couple of albums, but here goes:
1. First Impressions of Earth
Alright, it's not Is This It or Room on Fire, but most of the album still sounds awesome. I've been listening to it since I got it, which is January. One year and still interesting, that just deserves a top spot. Highlights coming to mind: Heart In a Cage, Ize of the World, You Only Live Once.
2. The Eraser
"Who the hell is Thom Yorke?" Sure, I heard of the name before, but I never linked it to Radiohead, mostly since I hadn't listened to those a lot. I knew Creep, which is good song, but not one that makes want to listen to their others.
So buying The Eraser was a guess, and the album is awesome (it's impossible to accuse me of the whole you-think-it's-good-because-it's-yorke mania). …
29 août 2006, 10h25m par BobMcCowThe big question I had when listening to The Eraser was whether Thom Yorke has moved beyond Kid A style Radiohead? Would this sound any different from the cut-and-paste synth noise, drum machines and wailing of those post OK Computer albums?
1 - The Eraser
Drum machines! Cut and paste piano lines! Disjointed abstract lyrics that might be political but are probably more about Thom's interior demons! Sweet and electronic, this song gets substantially more interesting in the outro.
2 - Analyse
Does Thom think too much about things? The answers are hidden on this track! There are only a few lines that aren't in the abstract here and when he sings about something concrete, he rhymes 'city' with 'pretty'. Musically it's another sinister nursery rhyme built up with strings and drum machine.
3 - The Clock
This is a bit more interesting, the presence of a guitar gives these songs a texture and distinctiveness that otherwise they lack. Oh man, Thom really hates the Government. …
