The Strokes est un groupe de rock américain réellement formé à New York en 1998, élevant sa renommée dès le début des années 2000 et considéré aujourd’hui comme l’un des groupes phares du renouveau rock. Bénéficiant de critiques élogieuses les caractérisant comme les « sauveurs du rock », à l’image des Libertines ou des White Stripes, ainsi que les dignes héritiers du Velvet Underground, ou de Television dont on remarque une certaine influence, ce groupe new-yorkais incarne l’énergie brute gavée du romantisme urbain des poètes seventies.
