BURGER Records proudly presents a heaping 27-track cassette release of The Prefab Messiahs' newly remastered early-80s anthology Devolver. It contains both of their Bobb Trimble-produced studio recordings ("The 16th Track" and "Desperately Happy"), as well as live tracks, radio broadcasts, and living-room/basement shenanigans.
Originally from the "Wormtown" (Worcester MA) punk/arts scene, the band was seemingly ahead of its time with a raucously odd mix of post-punk garage-pop psych -- back before terms like "indie", "alternative", or "lo-fi" were even in popular usage.
Limited edition of 300 cassettes available at the Burger Store !
All tracks are available for listening at the Prefabs' Bandcamp and Soundcloud pages.

Into the top ten of my personal hot one hundred. Crikey!
The Fall have made five appearances so far; but where did they get their sound? Part one of the answer is the inside of Mark E Smith's brain - a crazy place indeed. Part two is from a variety of deranged underground rock bands of the 1960s. We're not talking the obvious influences of The Beatles, The Byrds or The Velvet underground here. Nope, we're talking the venus flytraps and the rotten stinking fungi of the flower decade: The Fugs, The Other Half, but most of all, Monks - the most deranged, demented Monks (not to be confused with The Monks - the fetid, unfunny, sexist Bernard Mannings of 1970s comedy rock. Eurgh).
I've just been tasked with making a mixtape of angry songs. I'm tempted to add the opening song from Black Monk Time (Monk Time) and put it on repeat for eighty minutes. The sound of a man who may have smoked sixty extra high tar a day wailing frustratedly about his brother who…

29 jui. 2009, 8h31m par Lars_olloThis week, we lifted the lid once more off our worm farm of unholy covers, bringing you the beauty of the source by diving into the cesspool of re-interpretation. Electronic or just absolutely electric cover versions and covers of electronic originals to fascinate and devastate, including selections from the brilliant "Recovery" box set on Fractured and some dubbed out pop from the new “King Size Dub Chapter 69” comp on Echo Beach. Dare to do it differently!
