    The Kissers

    The Second Supper News:

Any reason you decided to go from a five piece to a six piece, or was that basically to get Nate doing what he wanted to do?
Kissers: It had a couple of purposes. It had the musical purpose of expanding the sound a bit because we traditionally have been a larger band.

Last week, I noticed that The Kissers were playing up in Racine and I decided I would try to make it up to see them. This evening Mitchell was looking for something to do, so we ended up meeting at McAuliffes to hear the Kissers play. I have a busy day tomorrow, so I ended up only staying for the first of their sets, I guess I am just old.

The band sounded pretty darn good tonight. They ended up playing a bunch of the songs I wanted to hear in their first set (American Folk Song, The Ballad Of Cobb Tyler, Black Crow Road) and a couple of unexpected songs (including Cocaine Blues). The first set was well worth the price of admission, and I am sure the second set would have been butter. Maybe I will get out to Ballydoyles and be able to stay (not likely on a Thursday night).

Tonight was one of the last shows that The Kid will play with the Kissers. I guess he is finishing out the week and then a guy with a pompadore is replacing him (don't recall his name). …

Last night, I headed down into the city right after work. I am not sure what it is, but the last two times I have gone in on a Friday, the traffic has been fantastic. I had scoped out the area on citysearch, and saw a falafel place across the street from the venue. I planned to eat there, but when I got there it had closed up shop. So I ended up having somewhat crappy pizza at the only not bar/franchise on the street.

From there, I headed down towards Lincoln Park for a walk. I ended up walking through a chunk of where the Out of Darkness walk was. I hit Lincoln Park at Fullerton and walked it's west edge to LaSalle, and then back through the park. Then I crossed LSD and walked up to a little walking bridge where Heather and I took a break during the overnight, and then back to Fullerton and Lincoln. I wasn't pushing it (I didn't want to be too sweaty) but I was wandering for the better part of two hours.

I finally headed into Wise Fool's Pub around 9 to wait for the bands. …
