The first U-toob video to do justice to a song that I've seen since the site update. And you were there.

I always figgered the Martins a good replacement for a Defibrillator – just place a pair of headphones on the patient and press “Play”.

FYI, Heaton started religious (and made some perfect, passionate pop songs with the Housemartins), he later discovered drinking and reason and became an Atheist (and made some perfect, passionate pop songs with the Beautiful South). I think the reason the first poster found it disturbing that he was originally religious is because the 'martins seemed life an intelligent, fun band. Typically religion leads to the opposite of that.

One of my faves from them. The quality of the Housemartins catalogue is staggering.

Who cares about the religion issue??? They were simply a great band who produced a vast number of great songs in a short space of time.

One of the most under-rated, under-played bands. For their sheer brilliance (and I say that as a metal-head) they should have been HUGE. As for the rest of you, I'm religiously atheistic... :P

If religion is causing problems for you perhaps you ought to limit your listening to less refined music. Something not as well developed as say... whale songs. In Heaton and the 'martins you're listening to some of the reverends of UK music - that's not disturbing, I hope. This is a britrock classic - hence the application of the term "criminally underrated" - fair observation.
