The Hives est un groupe de garage punk suédois créé en 1993. Leur premier album sort en 1997 sur le label Burning Heart. Un deuxième album sort en 1999 et le troisième mettra cinq ans à être commercialisé en raison d’une bataille judiciaire entre Burning Heart et leur nouveau label Interscope pour les droits de cet album. The Hives est un groupe reconnu pour ses prestations scéniques et ses hymnes garages teintés de rock 50’s. Le chanteur, Howlin Pelle Almqvist est comparé par certains à Mick Jagger. On pourra remarquer une certaine ressemblance physique, cultivée par Allmquist qui reprend des attitudes de Jagger. The Hives sont également remarqués pour leur fameux costards noir et blanc, partie de leur image de groupe sorti des années 1950 (noter de même les surnoms de certains membres du groupe), et leur humour si particulier (sur les livrets de leurs disques, sur leur site, etc).
Actuellement en tournée, le groupe a sorti un album s’appelant « The Black And White Album » le 9 octobre 2007 dont le single phare est « Tick Tick Boom », bruyant et très Rock’n’roll…
