the breakup story: After recording In The Unlikely Event one day FoT was driving around when they suddenly noticed a particular song playing on the radio. "Wow, what the fuck is this shit?" said Thomas. "Fuck dat yo I copped that new Yeezy pop that shit in" said Frank, ravenously consuming a bucket of KCF with a side of watermelon. The band had later been informed they were listening to themselves.

Been a fan of Doppedganger and Manipulator for years and years, but hadn't heard Phantom on the Horizon or In The Unlikely Event until just a couple days ago. Still good, but something is off.... the energy isn't quite the same. Then I went to Wikipedia and discovered they had since broken up... what a bummer!

@Stern_J I used to be in your boat but then I finally decided to give it a try and it's really a lot better than people give it credit for. Don't get me wrong, it isn't on par with Doppelganger or Manipulator but it definitely isn't just the "dull and boring record" that most people write it off as. Give it a shot, there's a ton of really cool moments in it.

Stern_J, their final album really is split between love and hate for most people. Depends on what you're looking for in the album. If you like tfot for the sound they had in Doppleganger and such, the new album really strays from that, and you probable wouldn't like it. On the other hand, if you really enjoy how they change from album, that same album is probably their most progressive in terms of trying out new techniques.

something iv always loved about this band is how jagged their sound is and then all of a sudden its all nice clean tone guitars. not sure if i should give the last listen a listen tho, i hear its nothing special which is strange considering how prolific and interesting TFoT always were
