I love shows where you get something unexpected out of them, and this was one of those. I have fallen a little bit in love with one of the opening bands, but time will see if I develop a full blown musical crush on The Dials.
This show was all local bands, two of which I had never seen or heard of. I always enjoy getting a chance to see more local bands, and this was a good set of them.
First on the stage was Helicopters. The Helicopters seemed to have quite a little following, possibly I was too old and male to fully appreciate them. The most lasting impression they left me with was that the front man looked like a younger Declan MacManus (but maybe it was just the hair/forehead/glasses combo).
Next up were The Dials, garage rock with an attitude that also evoke thoughts of an earlier time. These girls (and guy) put on a seriously great performance (I might have liked Helicopters more if I wasn't bowled over by The Dials). …
