@engqvizt: Go to the track pages for 'Gimmie Twice' and 'D-D-Dance', then scroll down and click on "Is this track name wrong or misspelt? Suggest a correction" on the right side. And there you just change the artist name to 'The Royal Concept'!
JollySam, I see your point - it makes sense. I think its cool to be inspired and a lot of now famous bands have done the same, as you said - nothing wrong with that.
I guess I feel like their inspiration is actually more like imitation, and imitation gives me negative feelings about anything - music or otherwise. To me it says, "Everyone likes this right now so we are going to just ride that wave of success". That's why its hard for me to enjoy or like any of their music and even take them seriously.
But that's just my opinion! I think music is subjective and if someone prefers one artist over another then that's just fine.
Rjoss & Olsonic, Of course their sound is similar to the Phoenix-sound, but it is their main inspiration. And they do admit that they are huge Phoenix-fans. All great bands and artists were inspired by others. I also love Phoenix, but to me, Gimme Twice ranks higher than many of the songs that Phoenix have made. ("Alphabetical" & "Amadeus" were amazing, but "It´s never like that" wasn't that good)
