The Calling est un groupe de rock alternatif originaire de la Californie. Fondé par Alex Band (chant) et Aaron Kamin (guitare), il regroupe aussi Sean Woolstenhulme (guitare), Billy Mohler (basse) et Nate Wood (batterie).
En 2002, après avoir participé au film Coyote Ugly, le groupe lance son premier album Camino Palmero qui connait un énorme succès aux États-Unis notamment grâce au titre « Wherever You Will Go » (5ème aux charts US).
L’album sort en France un an plus tard ou il connaît aussi un franc succès.
En 2004 sort « Two », avec surtout la chanson « Our Lives » qui restera dans les mémoires.
Le groupe est à cette periode réduit aux deux fondateurs, et engage pour sa tournée Justin Derrico, Daniel Damico , Corey Britz et Justin Meyer.
Après qu’Aaron se retire de la scène, Alex annonce une pause pour le groupe en 2005 et entame une carrière solo dans un genre rock plus calme. Mr Band a sorti un album début 2008, s’est engagé dans des associations caritatives (LIFE ROCKS) mais ne semble pas marquer la volonté de reprendre son activité avec The Calling.
