Khaela Maricich (plasticienne, performeuse, musicienne, chanteuse, etc) et son camarade Jona Bechtolt (musicien adepte du laptop sous le nom de Yacht, artiste, vidéaste, batteur à ses heures pour Devendra Banhart, etc) forment The Blow. Repéré par Calvin Johnson qui l’a intégré dans l’écurie K, le duo hyperactif et multicasquettes réinvente la pop music en faisant rimer expérimentations musicales, mélodies évidentes et rythmiques entraînantes.
Dans la mosaïque de chansons de The Blow – toujours interprétées par Khaela – de compos mastoc faites de bric et de broc, il y a le sucré “Parentheses”, le percutant “The Long List Of Girls”, le rigolo “Bonjour Jeune Fille”… Autant d’illustrations du style The Blow : de la musique artisanale pour boîte de nuit, de l’electro aux accents lo fi, de la pop à dégoter au rayon bricolage. Avec “Paper Television”, prolongement de l’univers plastique du duo arty et vraiment pas prise de tête, The Blow vient de réussir un gros coup.
