1. All I've Got to Do
From the opening chord to the on-again-off-again drumming to the glorious backing vocals during the choruses, this song is a standout.
2. All My Loving
Any personal meaning this track may have aside, this is a quintessential "I love you and I'll miss you" pop song. Great harmonies.
3. Please Mister Postman
John's vocals are amazing throughout, but it's when the "Wait a minute"s kick in that the song really starts to tug at the heartstrings... and becomes irresistible to sing along to.
4. Komm, gib mir Deine Hand
I took German class for a couple of weeks a few years back. It was too hard for me, so I quit. I wish I hadn't when I listen to this song, because then I could do some translating instead of laughing - lightheartedly and jokingly, of course - at the overall absurdity of it.
5. I Should Have Known Better
I'm a sucker for harmonica. But I didn't really think that "Beatles" and "harmonica"…

1. Set your Music Player to shuffle
2. Skip one track and use the track which is now playing as the answer for the first, second, third, etc. question
3. Skipping over and over again until you get a result you like is cheating. Cheating isn't always a bad thing, though

It's The Beatles Week! Day 1: The Early Years
Longtime readers will note that I have never once selected a Beatles track as a Song Of The Day! How can this be? Ignoring The Beatles for this long is only allowing the elephant in the room to get ever bigger, and 19 months after the launch of the SotD, it's time to give them their due.
I'll say right up front that I'm one of those fans of rock that agrees with all those various polls and whats-its that puts The Beatles at the top of the list as the all-time greatest band. The influence of Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison - especially collectively, but also individually - on both the world of music and upon pop culture at large is both immeasurable in breadth and and profoundly deep. There are so many other massively successful bands by any number of measures, but the fact that they influenced - and almost 50 years later CONTINUE to influence - so many artists…

19 mars 2008, 3h37m par WhereImGoingOkay...hurt my ears one more time. Let's see how much further they dredge the Beatles songbook tonight...
-Amanda Overmyer singing Back in the USSR - Eh...not bad, but one-trick-pony strikes again. I love that she's shooting for packing the bars in Lafayette, IN.
-Kristy Lee Cook singing You've Got to Hide Your Love Away - The phrase "hot mess" keeps getting used these days, and Kristy's name should be right next to that phrase in whatever reference guide you see it listed in. Painful.
-David Archuleta singing The Long and Winding Road - Well, he remembered the lyrics, and his vocal was great, but I just felt like he was a bit disconnected from the song. The girls screaming in the front row were annoying, too.
-Michael Johns singing A Day in the Life - Pitchy, shaky, scary. This guy is so freakin' overrated. He needs to change up his performance from this Jim Morrison-style preening he does.
-Brooke White singing Here Comes the Sun - She's such a fun singer…
