Sigh. "Stop listening to fake emo bands" I'm not even going to try and begin to tell you what's wrong with that request. Also, location and origin does in fact make a difference, look at britpop or NYHC, bands tagged with those tags have a very distinct sound, their location played a big part in their sound. The same could be said for a genre like Reggae.I refer you back to something I posted earlier, "there is more than one emo sound". You seem to be having trouble understanding that statement. "emo" is just a word. That word can have any number of different meanings. Also MTV hasn't been interested in music for about 15 years.

Of course you didn't understand it because you don't know Emo. Stop listening to fake Emo bands. | The reason why that term "Midwest Emo" is funny because it's implying a location. Location/Origin does not make up a genre. | Oh, so you're actually arguing over the fact that there IS Emo in mainstream? Are you that stupid? Of course you are. You don't listen to any Emo bands. How about you take a look at this site: http://web.mac.com/macinthetosh/Site_2/Emo.html That'll help a little. | "Who is "They"?" Ever heard of common sense? We're obviously talking about MTV. | Who ever said that a band doesn't want people to hear their music? I just said that Emo is a DIY thing, if that makes it clear.

I'm going to guess that English isn't your first language because that paragraph was nigh on impossible to read and make sense of. What exactly are you trying to argue? If you think the term "midwest emo" is funny then you are obviously a bit clueless about the genre. This band is from Kansas so it makes perfect sense for them to take some Midwestern influence in their music. I'd like to see where you got this "0% emo in the mainstream" fact from. Or did you just make that up? "They would never give out emo music to the public" Who is "They"? And if a band doesn't want the public to hear their music, then what's the point in being in a band? You're just fucking with me aren't you?

Just as I said before, there's 0% Emo in mainstream. They would never give out Emo music to the public. Come on man. Even many people say there are no Emo bands on MTV. Lol, Midwest Emo? Even the name is quite funny. The word "Emo" in it doesn't have a meaning either. It's like Mall Emo. It has no meaning in it either. Comparing with an Emo band and a non-Emo band obviously is a valid point. It's self-explanatory, unless ignorance runs through your brain, that is. Obviously there is more than one "Emo" sound, but it shouldn't be mistaken either. I've only gave out one Emo band after all.

@ValkyrieMissle, When ignorance occurs, we have to make that stop happening.

Just because a band is mainstream, doesn't mean they can't have emo influences. And TGUK had obvious midwest emo influences when they started out. Comparing them to another band doesn't validate your opinion. There is more than one "emo" sound.

Emo is not mainstream. There are no MTV bands that are Emo. Also, The Get Up Kids has Punk influences, but occasionally. This is Emo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWopwUi6baA

Actually, this band did have some pretty obvious emo influences in their music back in the day.

The tags are so messed up. The Get Up Kids isn't Emo and never was. Some people in here are messed up too...causing arguments with no valid reason. Even that logic goes against the Punk community.
