The band was known as Legacy from 1983-1986. Steve « Zetro » Souza from Exodus was the lead singer from 1985-1986, and he has done vocals for Testament at some points. There was precisely one show played as Legacy with Chuck Billy on vocals, in July of 1986.
Chuck Billy in early 2002 has been diagnosed with germ cell seminoma; a rare kind of cancer in Chuck’s case because this is usually in the testicular region of a man’s body, but Chuck has in his chest region near his heart. He’s been undergoing numerous treatments and hopefully will survive the cancer. Festivals and concerts have been held in helping raise money for Chuck’s sickness. The good news about all of this is Chuck has fully recovered from his sickness.

Apparently every band has their own style to express themselves and I find Testament quite different from Metallica, especially in the long run. They are the most even thrash band I've ever heard. I mean, Slayer might be doing better than in years, but with Testament, it seems that there haven't been any worse or non-thrash periods like with almost every major thrash metal band. They've always mainteined their supreme level it seems, and somehow I think they're even getting better! Anyway, Formation and Gathering both are very good albums!

imho the gathering is their best, while their old stuff is up there with the other top thrash bands, this album showcases chucks vocals at their best, and with lombardo, murphy and digiorgio you can't get much better
