Silicon Teens est un groupe de musique électronique du Royaume Uni. Silicon Teens est inventé de toute pièce par Daniel Miller célèbre créateur du label Mute Records (label qui édita entre autres Depeche Mode, Erasure, Moby, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds…). C’est derrière ce pseudonyme que Daniel Miller sort en 1979 « Memphis Tennessee » (une reprise de Chuck Berry) le premier single de Silicon Teens, avant que ne sorte l’album « Music for Parties ». Cet album est essentiellement composé de reprises. Daniel Miller avait auparavant créer The Normal qu’il édita sous son label Mute Records, ensuite Silicon Teens il entretient un mystère tout particulier car il invente quatres membres fictifs du groupe : Darryl le chanteur, Jacki et Diane deux filles aux claviers et Paul à la batterie électronique, c’est alors derrière ces quatre adolescents qu’il se cache. Il ira assez loin dans le mensonge jusqu’à même inventer un manager fictif. Il joue en quelque sorte le jeu de la parodie d’un groupe que pourrait avoir des « teenagers » tout en utilisant les nouveaux moyens technologiques naissants qu’il affectionne. Il n’est cependant pas certain que Silicon Teens soit à comprendre comme une parodie, pourtant une telle mise en scène permet de comprendre un peu mieux la conception que Daniel Miller a pu avoir de ce projet.
