Sharon Jones est née dans la ville natale de James Brown à Augusta, en Georgie. Comme de très grands chanteurs de Soul , tel James Brown ou Aretha Franklin, elle a commencé à chanter très jeune à l’église. Avec son sens inné du show, son talent l’a rapidement amené à s’imposer comme une leader dans plusieurs groupes. Il n’a pas fallu longtemps avant qu’elle ne joue avec les plus grands noms de la soul, dont les Four Tops, Peaches & Herb, The Drifters, et Macéo Parker. Très vite, elle a acquis une présence scénique et a appris à utiliser sa voix à la fois douce et rauque pour captiver le public et le faire bouger sur le dancefloor. Son association avec les Dap Kings, fondateurs du label Daptone, fait des merveilles depuis 2004.

En deux ans seulement (depuis la sortie de Naturally), la notoriété de Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings a grandi à vue d’œil. Le temps est désormais venu pour Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings de franchir une nouvelle étape dans leur carrière et de conquérir un public plus large encore…

I like how they use old school recording equipment/instruments. Definitely adds character to their sound. Perfect vocals too. Would love to see them live.

last night @ the warfield rocked! Be Easy was my highlight... this awesome 12 year-old boy got up there and did the robot with Sharon and she gave him some words of advice for when he's older and dating women.
