My Favorite Music 2009 (And Five Songs I Hate)
24 déc. 2009, 22h45m par alacy52
It's been a pretty eventful year for me as far as music is concerned. I've gone to more concerts in a single year (seven) than I ever had before, I had a four month stint writing for The 9513, I visited the Eli Young Band on their tour bus and my iTunes library continued to expand and became significantly less mainstream.
Once again, I've put together a list of my favorites from the past year. For this year's list I've added a category, which is a bit of a power ranking of how good the concerts I went to were.
Concerts I went to
7. Newsboys with No Better Cause - Nebraska State Fair - Lincoln, NE
6. Eli Young Band - UNL East Campus Mall - Lincoln, NE
5. Zac Brown Band - Pershing Auditorium - Lincoln, NE
4. Terri Clark and James Otto - Five Rocks Amphitheater - Gering, NE (review)
3. Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and Darius Rucker - Qwest Center - Omaha, NE
2. Randy Travis - Nebraska State Fair - Lincoln, NE
1. Gary Allan and Jamey Johnson - Heartland Events Center - Grand Island, NE (review)

Corinne Bailey Rae - Trouble Sleeping
26 nov. 2009, 4h46m par gigi00
It's late and I'm feeling so tired
Having trouble sleeping.
This constant compromise
Between thinking and breathing.
Could it be I'm suffering
Because I'm never give in?
Won't say that I'm falling in love
Tell me I don't seem myself
Couldn't I blame something else?
Just don't say I'm falling in love
Some kind of therapy
Is all I need
Please believe me
Some instant remedy
That can cure me completely
Could it be that I'm suffering
Because I'll never give in?
Won't say that I'm falling in love
Tell me I don't seem myself
Couldn't I blame something else?
Just don't say I'm falling in love
'cause I've been there before and it's not enough
So nobody say it
Don't even say it
I ve got my eyes shut
Won't look, oh
No, I'm not in love
Could it be I'm suffering
Because I'll never give in?
I'm falling love
Tell me I don't seem myself good enough for something else
Just don't say I'm falling in love
Falling in love
Just don't say I'm falling in love
Oh, yeah

The 9513 Chart Update 5-10-09
15 mai 2009, 14h03m par Carpetbagger513
Considering that The 9513 Group jumped up to 65 members this week, I was interested to see how that would affect the charts. Would we start to turn into every other group on Last.fm and have Radiohead among the top artists? Thankfully, no. Instead, the infusion of new blood created one of the best Top 10 charts we’ve ever had.
Sure, we’ve got our share of chart-toppers, with George Strait (22 listeners), Alan Jackson (19), Sugarland (18) and Martina McBride (17) all being well-represented. But right at the top, with 23 listeners, is Dwight Yoakam, who hasn’t had a Top 10 single on the Billboard charts since 1993 (sad, I know). I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Dwight, as “Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc.” was the first cassette tape I ever bought with my own money, and he and Randy Travis introduced me to country music.
Speaking of, Travis is also in our Top 10 with 15 listeners, and he’s had exactly one Billboard Top 10 song in the 21st century. … -

The 9513 Chart Update 3-22-09
23 mars 2009, 23h56m par Carpetbagger513
The American Idolization of The 9513 is beginning. While Brad Paisley managed to snag the top spot on the artists' chart this week with 18 listeners, Carrie Underwood was right behind him with 17 listeners. How did she do it? Well, her duet with Randy Travis, I Told You So was premiered on American Idol and became the second-most popular track with 8 plays, and her take on the country standard Home Sweet Home, the new Am-Idol farewell song, had 6 listeners. Among the top tracks for the week were
Blame It On Your Heart and
Wild Angels, which were featured on Idol's country night last week. Were our members looking for the better versions of those songs after hearing them Idolized? Maybe. Actually, Allison Iraheta's version of Patty's song was pretty good. Oddly, two people listened to Ring of Fire by Adam Lambert, and no one listened to Johnny Cash's version.
Elsewhere on the charts, the Top 20 doesn't have a ton of surprises. A couple days with my fiancee's copy of Alan Jackson's Greatest… -
The 9513 journal update 3-15-09
17 mars 2009, 4h50m par Carpetbagger513
In a move that's sure to anger anyone over 21 years old, the Great "I Told You So" battle is over, and Carrie Underwood has defeated Randy Travis, 18 listeners to 17. While it was one of Travis' best showings on the charts, it wasn't enough to top the upstart. As far as the two different versions of ITYS, six people listened to Carrie's version, while only four listened to Randy's version. However, two people also checked out the single remix of Randy's song, whatever that is. Call it a tie on a technicality, maybe?
Last week was an incredible week for new releases, albeit non-commercial ones. Possibly as a result, 5 people listened to Neko Case (though probably not the last track on her new CD -- unless you're a HUGE fan of crickets), while 7 people played Justin Townes Earle. Buddy & Julie Miller and Raul Malo had just 2 listeners each, though. Hey, picking up four new albums on release week is pretty tough for anyone nowadays.
