geez i hate hipsters. they got into music in the last 5 years and suddenly it's cool to hate any album that's gone down in history as a classic simply due to it's popularity. This album may have had cutting edge production in 1973, but it's still popular today because it still resonates, the songs are fucking good, the playing is heartfelt, the lyrics are honest and direct. Take your musical snobbery elsewhere, id like to see what you can create with some analog tape, no pro tools, no auto tune, midi quantisation... just raw instruments you actually have to perform on.

Bank-breaking production values, shallowly existential lyrical topics, "soulful" (read: pentatonic) guitar solos, and enough faux-musique concrete sound effects to cover up the fact that the songs are all basic blues progressions. I can understand the appeal, but I also recognize that DSOTM is mediocre.
