I'm definitely enjoying the new album. Although the first half outshines the back half in my opinion, 'Rabbits' is spectacular. I've generally been able to roll with the changes in style (though Spiritual Machine will probably always be my favourite) but Burn Burn was disappointing, especially considering the potential demonstrated in 'Monkey Brains' and 'Paper Moon'. Curve is much more satisfying to listen to and I'm really pleased with what they've accomplished on this album.

How do you thumbs up a last.fm comment? Anyway, I saw OLP twice in London this weekend and they were awesome. Way better than I'd expected. My life is now complete. They are my favourite band ever and they NEVER do gigs this side of the world.

Naveed was far from average, in my estimation. Songs like Hope and Neon Crossing had teeth that you just can't find on any of Clumsy, ...Happiness, or Spirutal Machines.

  • Siberiandreamer

Woah, woah, naveed was fairly average in comparison to the three that followed it! Anyway, the album is such a downer and that is just what I want from Our Lady Peace! Welcome back to depressing me and impressing me, guys.

I was pretty angry when I didn't see "Curve" being sold at my local best buy. What the hell is best buy good for if they can't carry my favorite band's cd?

Damn, I spelled his name wrong. Wow, that's a heck of a story though. Thanks stripes. Didn't know that was him on the album cover either

    avril 2012
  • stripesonfirex

they named it mettle because of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Chuvalo#Personal_life and the google definition of mettle sums it up pretty clearly i think "mettle: a person's ability to cope well with difficulties or to face a demanding situation in a spirited and resilient way." not only was he never KO'd once in 93 boxing matches but he managed to go through literal living hell and pull through it all

    avril 2012
  • jonnyj24

I'm loving Mettle. I think it's the 2nd best track on Curve under Heavyweight and the best closer to an album since The Wonderful Future. The honesty from George Chavalo works powerfully with the music. I wonder why they decided to name the track Mettle though... any ideas?

a different name and feel, removing the chorus makes it feel like it's missing something now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fMSYBd_6Ec

  • stripesonfirex

if OLP turned into radiohead i would be totally okay with that. realistically they should have gone down a completely different path post-spiritual machines but instead opted to pursue a career in mainstream generic radio fodder. glad they backtracked to the fork in the road they faced after spiritual machines and took the other road this time.

  • Dream_EA

Strange feeling after hearing the new album. The style has changed and I doubt more like a style of Radiohead for some reason. I'll listen to again.

Enjoying the new album a lot, actually.

    avril 2012
  • Bromeo91

I really like the new record and I think unlike Burn Burn, Curve will have lasting power and will prove relevant even years from now. My only wish is that we would get a record where raine just goes all out with the falsetto and crazy voice like on happiness. It could be just as different musically.

  • DreadfulHero

I'm not sure what to think of it yet, but I will give them props for doing something different sounding. I felt they had run the well dry after Gravity, but this isn't like what I expected at all. It's been easy to divide the quality of their music pre and post-Gravity, but this is something different altogether. It sounds like they were listening to a lot of Radiohead and Sparta, too.

    avril 2012
  • eldeniro

Heavyweight is the strongest track for sure, but the album holds its own in their discography. It's their best album since Spiritual Machines imo and I'm delighted with it. I also love how I can tell the tracks will sound awesome live. As a whole it's a great album to listen to, unlike pretty much everything else post Gravity. Impressed.

    avril 2012
  • negrowallace

Curve is fucking amazing. It seems they're never going to be able to produce songs of the style of Clumsy again, but the fact that every album is different is their best quality. If every album was like clumsy, they wouldn't have produced Annie (from Happiness..) , The Wonderful Future (from Spiritual Machines) , Bring Back the Sun (from Gravity) , Apology (from Healthy...) , Dreamland (from Burn Burn) , and HEAVYWEIGHT (from Curve).
