Morgan Geist est un artiste du New Jersey. Avec un Ep sur Metamorphic en 1994 et un album remarqué en 1997, il a tout de suite une patte très originale, s’inspirant de la techno de detroit, de la pop 80’s synthétique et de l’Italo disco. Cela le rapproche esthétiquement à l’époque d’une scène minimal disco qui est plutôt allemande avec Ladomat 2000 ou Kompakt.
Par la suite, il explore une Detroit plus pure avant de revenir en force vers le disco symphonique avec son groupe Metro Area en 2002 puis son album très synth-pop Double Night Time (2008). Il peut être considéré comme une des figures majeures du disco du 21è siècle.

"The Driving Memoirs" is an incredible work. Great fusion between detroit techno and soft 90's intelligent techno melodies. WARP Records should have found this guy first! One of the best discoveries i made in the last years.
