As of writing this, I have just under 36,000 tracks in my iTunes Library, a good deal of those tracks are from Asian artists.

One of the questions I'm asked the most is something along the lines of "can you recommend any artists?". And I wrote a big long list in a google doc, but instead of posting that link here (ngl it would be easier, but I can link to artist pages easier here), I'm gunna just copy&paste and you can lurk the artist pages and crap.

I'mma mark my favourite with love hearts or stars or something. You should check those out before any others, tbh. ♥ Or maybe I should bold them. Erm.

Don't know where to get any of the music I recommend? If you stalk/talk/have me as a friend on LiveJournal, I may just give you a shunt in the right direction. Maybe.

Saturday was awesome, as far as I can remember.

After having settled in a guesthouse near Hongdae, I met up with rpgshine to go to some kind of musician flea market she had head about. It seemed like a really nice gathering, and to my surprise I found Amature Amplifier sitting on the floor, offering several interesting CDs.... I said hi and learned that the Stretching Journey vocalist is currently studying abroad so that's why it's been kinda quiet from them lately. Also met "the 5th Stretching Journey member" and was happy to find Cabinet singalongs sitting at the next blanket, since I had thought they'd disappeared already a couple of years ago.

Later that evening time had come for the event I used as an excuse to come to Korea this time: Sat 20 Feb – Apollo18 - VIOLET EP Release Show! National Pigeon Unity opened and were even slightly better than I remembered them to be. They had lots and lots of energy throughout the entire set, with the second last song even giving me the chills. …

When I first laid my ears on this album, all I could think was, "what loveliness!"

Indie bands often fall into the trap of blandness when they take themselves too seriously. I have little patience when it comes to dull tunes. Thankfully, I found no such problem with Donawhale's debut album. Their music is light, dreamy, and slightly eccentric without ever dipping over into the 'boring' category.

The album opens with 'Close Your Eyes,' putting me on an otherworldly high. The gentle female vocals seem to echo from a distance creating a dreamlike ambiance. The second track, 'Hole' starts off slowly but the song escalates and spreads in volume with it's expertly controlled drumming. It's a bit noisier with the heavy drumming and clashing cymbals, but like all their songs, it still maintains a dreamy lightness to it.
