22 août 2011, 21h25m par Neue_regel_As Frank Zappa said: "most rock journalism is people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, for people who can't read." Extremely true, if you ask me. However, I'll try my best in this little journal role. Of course, there are thousands upon thousands of music genres. Nevertheless, only a few can boast and entail a sheer bombastic splendour without simultaneously losing any edge of intellectual honesty and rigor. Definitely, progressive metal is one of those. From wiki: " Progressive metal (sometimes known as prog metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal, which blends the powerful, guitar-driven sound of metal with the complex compositional structures, odd time signatures, diverse philosophical lyrics and intricate instrumental playing of progressive rock. Many progressive metal bands are also influenced by jazz fusion and classical music. Like progressive rock songs, progressive metal songs are typically much longer".

I don't care if in this list is not your favourite overrated glam rock singer, or the even more overrated Bruce Dickinson. Then, if you don't even know who are the guys, do the world a favour by not showing your stupidity complaining about these vocalists.
1- Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)
Not much to say about him. He's beyond reality and Chuck Norris.
2- Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot)
Too epic to be real. Tuomas Holopainen was inspired by Åkerfeldt's grace when he decided to join Marco to Nightwish.
3- Oliver Philipps (Everon)
This guy's amazing, but too unknown.
4- Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia)
Now he's kinda emo, but also a musical genius.
5- Andreas Novak (Mind's Eye)
28 mai 2008, 12h19m par adman30305I think I've found my greatest discovery for 2008. Mind's Eye is that extremely rare amalgam of progressive metal, strong melody, rich harmonies and evocative vocals. This group is truly a reflection of the best elements from many of my favorite bands.
The strangest thing: they've been around since 1992! How can a band of this caliber fly under my radar for 12 years? Incredible.
What is it about Sweden that produces such a bevy of musical talent? Flower Kings. Moon Safari. Pain of Salvation. Mind's Eye stands as equals among these musical giants.

I realize that sweden is a special country. Why this?
Because of course there are too many quality bands. Since more 10 ten year I was listening bands from many countries. But sweden is special with high musical education I think so... I decided make this list of bands. I'm sure that I forget someone band then you can help me to discover new bands from sweden. I wish that is connected with my musical taste but you think my extensive taste also...
What demons eat for example in Stockholm or Umeä ? :-) \mm/
