Megaherz est un groupe allemand de Metal industriel fondé en 1993.

Megaherz a changé plusieurs fois de style musical depuis sa création. Il était initialement proche du metal alternatif de Faith No More alors qu’actuellement il tend à ressembler au metal industriel tel que pratiqué par Oomph! ou Rammstein. Cette orientation vers la musique industrielle est relativement contemporaine de l’arrivée dans le groupe du claviériste Noel Pix en 1997. La première réalisation réellement metal industriel du groupe est l’album Kopfschuss édité en 1998.

En octobre 2002, le chanteur Alexx Wesselsky annonce sont départ du groupe en raison de ses divergences musicales, mais il restera toutefois jusqu’à la fin de la tournée. Il quitte officiellement le groupe le 1er janvier 2003 puis fonde, avec Noel Pix qui a aussi quitté Megaherz, le groupe Eisbrecher.

En avril de la même année, les membres restants annoncent qu’ils ont trouvé un nouveau chanteur : Mathias Elsholz (du groupe Twelve After Elf). Il était déjà connu des fans de Megaherz pour sa participation sur le titre Falsche Götte de l’album Himmerfahrt.

En août 2003, le groupe annonce qu’il est à la recherche d’un autre chanteur. En juin 2004, un nouvel album est en préparation. Peu de temps après, une première chanson est publiée. Elle confirme alors la rumeur selon laquelle Megaherz à un nouveau chanteur. Il s’avèrera que la chanson est Zeig mir dein Gesicht de l’album 5 édité le 6 décembre 2004 en Europe et réédité aux États-Unis le 21 février 2006.

A cause d’une blessure au poignet, le batteur Jürgen Zink est contraint de quitter le groupe après que l’album 5 fut produit.

    Sancezz: My mistake. I was thinking of the song Gold on Herzwerk II (The only song I skip on that album) and thought it was much better sounding version.. Well of course it is because it's not even the same song. Heuchler is still my favorite Megaherz album but I have come to the conclusion that Götterdämmerung is also a good album. In their sound though I don't see much difference like some have said.

    New album sounds to me like they've got a bit of their spark and drive back. The music has a much stronger presence. I've always liked Megaherz, and although it became apparent how much of a driving force Noel and Alexx were when they formed Eisbrecher, 5 was still a pretty nice album. Heuchler I couldn't get into at all, and I nearly gave up on them. Jagdzeit gave me faith though, and after a couple of listens I'm happy to say I'm rather enjoying this album. Not sure why they felt the need to re-record Das Licht Am Ende Der Welt though. Also, am I missing something? I didn't think Herz Aus Gold was a previous Megaherz song? Can't find it listen on any of the albums?

    After my first listen, Götterdämmerung was better than I thought it would be. I wasn't a big fan of Heuchler, so I didn't have a lot of hope for this album, but it was better than expected. I do prefer the original "Das Licht am Ende der Welt," but the version of "Herz aud Gold" on here was pretty good. I'll give this album a few more listens.

    "5" is my least favorite album from Megaherz although Gott Sein '04 totally owns the original. It's my fave Megaherz song. I have to listen to Götterdämmerung more to give my honest opinion about the album but on the first three listens it didn't sound very good.

    Götterdämmerung is a powerful name, and the album lives up to it. Whereas Heuchler sounded to me a little too much like your basic metal music, this new work marks Megaherz's return to the core of the NDH- style. This is exemplified by more electro-samples and Lex's vocals which overall seem to have improved since 2008. While I still think Matze Elsholz's vocals made "5" an outstanding album, Götterdämmerung is certainly better produced. Fünf Sterne.
